John Cena’s Last Time in Boston

Raw from Boston kicked off with Triple H in the ring, saying that everyone can agree that John Cena is the greatest of all time. Levesque introduced John Cena to his hometown crowd to a massive pop. Cena then announced that at Saturday Night’s Main Event, there will also be main roster wrestlers taking on NXT wrestlers to spotlight the future of the company. Cena was then interrupted by Dominik Mysterio. Dom asked Triple H what he was going to do about Rey Mysterio interrupting his celebration last week. Cena said that tonight, he was invincible, and Mysterio said he wasn’t even at his peak yet, and he’s better than Cena in his prime. Triple H then made the match official, and Dom would defend the Intercontinental Championship right then and there.

Intercontinental Championship

The first match of the night saw Dominik Mysterio defending his Intercontinental Championship against the young upstart John Cena. It was noted that Cena had never won the IC title before, and this would be his last chance at becoming a Grand Slam Champion. After two commercial breaks, Dom brought a chair into the ring, and the referee ended up being knocked out. Dom tapped out, but the referee was out. Dom grabbed his IC title but missed and got nailed with the AA. A new referee ran down, but Dominik kicked out at two. Mysterio then hit the 619 and Frog Splash, but Cena rolled through and hit another AA for the win.

Afterwards, backstage, the locker room celebrated Cena’s win, and Cena interacted with Rey Mysterio and Cody Rhodes.

Rusev vs. Damian Priest

The next match was the first in The Last Time Is Now Tournament, featuring Rusev against Damian Priest. It was noted that Priest’s eye was still affected by the Aleister Black fireball attack from a few weeks back. After the ad break, Priest started mounting a comeback despite his ongoing eye issue. All of this begged the question, how was Priest cleared, or at least wearing an eye patch? Rusev then gouged Priest’s eye and hit the Machka Kick for the win.

Backstage, AJ Styles and Dragon Lee told Adam Pearce they needed challengers. Maxxine Dupri appeared and said she was ready for Becky Lynch next week at Madison Square Garden. Becky jumped Maxxine and left her lying, saying she didn’t stand a chance.

CM Punk Needs Friends

Next up, CM Punk conducted an in-ring promo to address Logan Paul’s attack last week. Punk called Paul out immediately, and he obliged. Paul said he was smarter than Punk and that getting punched by Floyd Mayweather was nothing compared to being flattened by Bronson Reed. The Vision then appeared, and it seemed Paul had joined the group. Punk challenged the group to come for him in the ring when Jey Uso and Cody Rhodes appeared, and a brawl ensued. The heels tucked their tails in defeat as the segment ended.

Women’s World Championship

The next match saw Stephanie Vaquer (with Nikki Bella) defending her World Championship against Raquel Rodriguez, accompanied by Roxanne Perez. The two went back and forth until after an ad break, when Vaquer attempted the SVB again, having failed multiple times the previous week. Rodriguez then stopped a Meteora attempt and converted it into a powerbomb. Roaxanne Perez then tried to get involved but got taken out by Nikki Bella. Vaquer successfully executed the Devil’s Kiss and followed that up with a Corkscrew Moonsault for the win. Nikki Bella then attacked Vaquer with the Women’s Championship.

Backstage, CM Punk summoned William Regal to utter “War Games” as two teams were clearly being assembled.

Shinsuke Nakamura vs. Sheamus

The second of the two Last Time is Now tournament matches featured Shinsuke Nakamura taking on Sheamus. After the ad break, a Brogue Kick and a Kinshasha were avoided, and Nakamura set up for his finisher again when he was hit with the Brogue Kick out of nowhere for the win. After the match, both men shook hands.

Next week’s matches were announced, featuring Je’Von Evans taking on Gunther, as well as Solo Sikoa against an unnamed opponent.

Women’s Tag Team Championship

The main event of Raw was Alexa Bliss and Charlotte Flair taking on Asuka and Kairi Sane. Flair and Bliss had the match won when Nia Jax and Lash Legend appeared and broke up the submission attempt by Flair. Sane then hit the Insane Elbow for the win. If Jax and Legend wanted to win the titles, how does this make any sense? Jax and Legend beat down Flair and Bliss after the match and teamed up with the Kabuki Warriors when Iyo Sky ran down to help. Sky was swiftly taken out, and Rhea Ripley (with a facemask) returned to take out the heels. Ripley got on the mic and yelled “War Games” as the show ended.
