Tensions flared within the Don Callis Family at AEW Full Gear as Konosuke Takeshita and Kyle Fletcher announced they would join Kazuchika Okada in the upcoming Continental Classic.
During a backstage interview with Lexy Nair, Don Callis attempted to rally his stable following a night of mixed results.
While Hechicero stood by holding the bag of $1 million won earlier by The Young Bucks and Josh Alexander, Callis insisted that Okada and Takeshita would be the best team in history if they could align their goals. However, the two continued to blame one another for their loss to El Sky Team on the Tailgate Brawl pre-show.
Callis pivoted to the upcoming tournament, stating that Continental Champion Okada would defend his title to prove he is the “best tournament wrestler of all time.” Takeshita immediately declared that he would also compete in the tournament.
The segment was interrupted by Kyle Fletcher, who was angry following his TNT Championship loss to Mark Briscoe. Fletcher criticized “Prot-Okada” and “Proto-Shita” for claiming to be his friends but failing to aid him when he needed them most. He announced he would also enter the Continental Classic before storming out, prompting Okada to blame Takeshita for Fletcher’s behavior.
The Continental Classic begins on Wednesday’s episode of Dynamite. This will be the second participation for Okada and Fletcher, while Takeshita will be making his tournament debut.
A million-dollar night for @TheDonCallis Family! But behind the smiles, tension rises between @rainmakerXokada & @Takesoup as Takeshita and @kylefletcherpro enter the Continental Classic!
