Ridge Holland (Luke Menzies) undergoes surgery to replace discs in neck

Ridge Holland (Luke Menzies) has undergone successful surgery to replace damaged discs in his neck.

The 37-year-old posted a video to Instagram from his hospital bed, confirming that a C5 to C7 artificial disc replacement had gone as planned. In the post, Menzies thanked the staff at the facility and noted that he would provide further updates in the coming days.

In a brief video accompanying the announcement, Menzies showed the surgical dressing on his throat as he addressed his recovery.

“Surgery went well. Just want to thank everyone for the support,” Menzies said. “And a nice little scar. Recovery starts now. Again, thank you so much for the love and support. Peace.”

The procedure was performed at the Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS) in Manhattan. The center is recognized as a leader in the field, having been ranked as the number one hospital for orthopedics in the United States by U.S. News & World Report for 15 consecutive years.

Menzies was informed in October that his WWE contract would not be renewed upon its expiration on November 14. The news came after he suffered a significant Lisfranc foot injury in September while representing NXT at a TNA taping.

On November 4, Menzies posted on social media about his financial anxiety, stating he was being “hung out to dry” by the company. Reports emerged shortly after that WWE had terminated his contract early, just days before it was set to expire.

In an appearance on Busted Open Radio on November 10, he spoke of the impending neck surgery and stated that because it was an “open case”, WWE would cover the cost of the procedure and rehab.
