It’s still way too close to call in the A Block of NJPW’s 2025 World Tag League.
Half of the division remains tied up with four points each, showing that we’re still far from finding out who will advance to the finals. Bishamon, EVIL & Don Fale, El Desperado & Shuji Ishikawa, and Yota Tsuji & Gabe Kidd are currently the top teams in the division following today’s card from the Sendai Sun Plaza Hall in Sendai, Japan.
Bishamon (Hirooki Goto and YOSHI-HASHI), arguably the favorites in the A Block due to their prior success in the tournament, scored their second win of the tour in Wednesday’s main event, taking down the odd duo of Toru Yano and Boltin Oleg.
Hitting their Shoto double-team finisher, the ex-IWGP Tag Team Champions and multi-time World Tag League winners took down the sole A Block team who walked into today’s card undefeated.
House of Torture members EVIL and Don Fale leaned heavily on interference from Dick Togo at ringside to overcome Shingo Takagi and Drilla Moloney in this morning’s co-main event. After numerous dirty tactics didn’t render a finish, Togo threw dust in the eyes of Takagi, allowing an Everything is EVIL to be hit on him for the finish.
The team of El Desperado and Shuji Ishikawa climbed up to four points after defeating the duo of Taichi and Satoshi Kojima. A back-and-forth battle came to a sudden end after Desperado reversed a lariat attempt from Kojima into a successful roll-up pinfall.
Yujiro Takahashi and Chase Owens remain winless through three tournament matches thus far, dropping a bout to Yota Tsuji and Gabe Kidd on Wednesday night. The Bullet Club War Dogs & “Unaffiliated” duo of Kidd and Tsuji won with a double-team spear and rebound lariat onto Takahashi for the pinfall.
NJPW will return on Friday night in Aomori, kicking off a triple-header of World Tag League action this weekend. Attention will shift back to the B Block on the next card, including a bout which will see IWGP Tag Team Champions OSKAR & Yuto-Ice try to end their losing streak and finally get on the board in the tournament.
