In her first-ever WarGames bout, AJ Lee scored the submission win for her team.

Lee locked in the Black Widow against Becky Lynch on Saturday night, earning her the win alongside Charlotte Flair, Alexa Bliss, Rhea Ripley, and IYO SKY in 41 minutes.

Their win against Lynch, Lash Legend, Nia Jax, and The Kabuki Warriors opened this year’s Survivor Series: WarGames Premium Live Event (PLE) from Petco Park in San Diego, California.

Former WWE Women’s Intercontinental Champion Lynch found herself in a one-on-five scenario after all of her other teammates were taken out by a massive Swanton Bomb off the top of the cage from IYO SKY, who had a trashcan around her head as she landed the high-risk move.

After getting hit with a Riptide from Ripley, Lynch tapped to Lee’s submission, ending the bout.

A healthy amount of weaponry was brought into the match prior to the finish. Ripley, who entered the ring with SKY’s trash can, also brought in numerous black kendo sticks. Kairi Sane entered with a chain, which she used during a Kabuki Special alongside Asuka. Lynch also brought a kendo stick in.

Lee had one of the early highlights in the match as she entered the ring. Lynch attempted to block her entrance into the match by shutting the cage door, but Lee was able to climb over the cage to get into the bout anyway.

The bout was Lee’s second in-ring appearance since making her long-awaited return to wrestling earlier this year. It was her first Survivor Series match since 2014, when she lost a title bout to Nikki Bella in 34 seconds.

Saturday also marked the first official main roster match for Lash Legend, who had previously wrestled on Tuesday night’s NXT program.

In a slight change to this year’s WarGames matches, wrestlers didn’t wait inside a shark cage at ringside before they officially entered the bout. Instead, they entered one by one when it was their turn to get into the match.
