Jumping Right In
AEW Dynamite Holiday Bash kicked off by jumping directly into the first match, which was Jon Moxley vs. Roderick Strong in a Continental Classic Blue League match. Renee Paquette broke in to the match, noting that they were 2-2 in their lifetime matches, dating back to 2008.
As this match gets underway, @ReneePaquette digs a little deeper into this Blue League match of @RoderickStrong vs @JonMoxley.

The two brawled into the crowd, and referee Paul Turner didn’t administer a count, showing leniency as they fought their way back to the ring. After a commercial break, Arkady Aura announced the halfway point at 10 minutes, as neither competitor had a clear advantage. Strong then dumped Mox back-first onto the ring steps.

Things continued to heat up from there as the match went into the final four minutes, as Moxley hit a Paradigm Shift but could only muster a delayed cover. Mox then hit the Death Rider for the win, eliminating Roderick Strong from contention at zero points with two matches left to go.

Million Dollar Trios Match
Don Callis introduced IWGP World Champion Konosuke Takeshita and Hechicero, but Kazuchika Okada interrupted their entrance with Arkady announcing him. The Young Bucks entered to their old Superkick Party theme, followed quickly by Kenny Omega. As expected, Okada and Takeshita could not get on the same page and stared each other down early in the match.
Is @RainmakerXOkada REALLY concerned about teamwork when it comes to @takesoup?

Things built gradually as the match went on, and the crowd popped when Okada and Omega squared off in the ring. Okada nearly nailed Takeshita with the Rainmaker, and Hechicero tried to play peacemaker as the faces took advantage of the disagreement. Takeshita and Okada were dumped to the outside as Omega hit the One Winged Angel with an assist from the Young Bucks. Okada and Takeshita jumped the Bucks, and each hit their finishers on them, arguing the whole time. Omega finally made the save with a broom as the crowd chanted “Cleaner”.

When Three Becomes Four
Next was the contract signing with Samoa Joe, Hangman Adam Page, and Swerve Strickland. Joe was out with Hobbs and Hook, but Shibata was conspicuous by his absence. Swerve talked about the mutual respect between himself and Hangman, as well as their mutual hatred for Samoa Joe. Swerve mentioned Joe’s fake face tattoo from 2007. Hangman called Joe a piece of shit and said that he was worse than the Death Riders. The contract was signed, the lights went out, and MJF made his return. MJF cashed in and made it a four-way match at Worlds End.

Diddy and called him “Shane,” bringing up his going to WWE and twerking for Top Dolla. MJF said that he would beat all three and win back his “Triple B” at Worlds End.

Gold League Match
The next match saw Kyle Fletcher taking on Pac in a Gold League match in the Continental Classic. This was hard-hitting out of the gate, and Pac seemed out to prove he could still be a high-flyer despite his recent muscle gain.

Next up was the battle royale to determine the two opponents who would face off next week for the Dynamite Diamond Ring and a future AEW World Championship opportunity. Before the match began, Brodido were jumped by The Demand from behind. Max Caster and Anthony Bowens teamed up in the early portion of the match, but Ricochet eliminated Caster before he could scissor with Bowens. Ricochet eliminated Bowens as well shortly thereafter.

Cassidy nursed an injury to his back throughout here, unable to lift Dorada for the Beach Break and giving his opponent a target for his offense. The finish came out of nowhere as Dorada came off the top rope with an arm drag, but Cassidy was able to reverse it into a roll-up for the win.
Mercedes Moné and Athena were interviewed backstage and challenged the Babes of Wrath to a tag title match for Worlds End. Moné said she would defend her British Championship this Saturday on Collision.

Tag Team Championship
The main event of the evening saw FTR defending their tag team titles against the Bang Bang Gang’s Austin Gunn and Juice Robinson. Momentum between the two teams swung back and forth, building to a hot tag to Juice as he took out both members of FTR. Big Stoke then attempted to throw powder in Juice’s face, but was caught.

The Bang Bang Gang then racked up several near falls but couldn’t put FTR away. Paul Turner then counted three despite Dax Harwood’s foot being on the rope, and Gunn and Robinson were given the tag titles, distracting them as the match continued. FTR then stomped Juice’s leg and followed that up with an Inverted Figure Four, forcing Juice to tap out.
