Trey Miguel is back in TNA after a tumultuous week that saw him join and exit AEW.
Miguel, 31, was set to debut in AEW alongside Zachary Wentz, Dezmond Xavier, and Myron Reed, with the performers exiting TNA and signing with the promotion.
Last Saturday, The Rascalz appeared on Collision without Miguel and immediately triggered discussion over his status. It was reported by Fightful that he was released by the promotion and cited as a response after an old social media post by Miguel surfaced.
In 2020, during a Facebook back-and-forth with a fan, Miguel used homophobic language in his response but did apologize shortly after. The post appears to have been a dealbreaker for WBD, who are believed to have made the call to release Miguel. He was brought back to TNA and appeared as a surprise entrant in the Feast or Fired match on Thursday and captured one of the briefcases.
After his release, Miguel initially stated he was taking a break from professional wrestling, but issued a statement Friday morning:
I planned to step away from wrestling after the week I went through. It was really hard on me mentally and emotionally. I didn’t think I could do it anymore. Thank you to everyone who had my back, especially @ThisIsTNA. It was hard not to quit. But we can’t give up. Thank you God.
