Mayu Iwatani celebrated her 15th anniversary as a professional wrestler with a physical battle against fellow top MARIGOLD star Utami Hayashishita on Saturday evening.

A Korakuen Hall card this weekend saw Iwatani keep her GHC Women’s Championship in the main event, overcoming long-time rival Hayashishita in 14 minutes with a Dragon Suplex. The back-and-forth battle saw both hit high-risk moves earlier, as Hayashishita connected with her Razor’s Edge finisher and Iwatani landed a Poisonrana off the ring apron.

While Saturday’s meeting was certainly one of the shorter performances between the two in the past, it delivered an impressive back-and-forth battle which showed why Iwatani and Hayashishita are two of the brand’s biggest names.

It was just earlier this month when Iwatani captured the GHC belt, a championship governed by Pro Wrestling NOAH but defended throughout the Japanese wrestling scene. She dethroned Takumi Iroha as part of MARIGOLD’s First Dream 2026 card in a 25-minute battle to earn the title. Along with her GHC belt, Iwatani is also MARIGOLD’s Superfly Champion.

Iwatani declared Hayashishita as one of her greatest rivals during a post-match speech. The women have battled in one-on-one matchups six times since 2018, facing off numerous times in STARDOM before both talents crossed over to MARIGOLD in recent years.

Saturday saw Hayashishita battle for a title for the first time since she dropped MARIGOLD’s top belt to Miku Aono back in October.

CHIAKI & Matsui take down young duo to retain tag belts

The Darkness Revolution duo of CHIAKI and Misa Matsui retained their MARIGOLD Twin Star Championships in the co-main event, turning back the surging duo of Seri Yamaoka and Shinno.

Building off the storyline of trying to make Yamaoka join their heel faction, CHIAKI and Matsui were able to make their opponents inadvertently attack eachother at numerous points during the early goings of the match. Later on, it was a top-rope legdrop from CHIAKI which ended the bout in 13 minutes.

Yamaoka made it clear afterward that the unsuccessful title bid hadn’t killed the duo’s hopes of becoming champs. Noting that they had previously overcome CHIAKI and Matsui in tournament action last year, Yamaoka said they’ll be coming back for the titles again at some point in the future.

CHIAKI called out MARIGOLD World Champion Miku Aono in the post-match, once again unsuccessfully making her case for a title shot.

Trios tournament continues, Komomo Minami puts on ‘breakout’ performance

MARIGOLD World Champion Miku Aono had her hopes of being part of the promotion’s first-ever trios champs team were put to rest earlier in the night. In a lengthy 16-minute battle, Aono lost alongside ex-GHC champ Kouki Aramei and comedy act Megaton against the trio of Erina Yamanaka, Mai Sakurai and Natsumi Showzuki in the opening round for the vacant MARIGOLD 3D Trios Championships.

A tough Megaton endured many of the trio’s top moves, but was eventually put away after a top-rope double knees from Sakurai.

In what was dubbed a “breakout” performance immediately afterward, rising MARIGOLD prospect Komomo Minami fought to a 15-minute time limit draw against Victoria Yuzuki. The storyline of the match was Minami repeatedly coming close to a finish against United National champ Yuzuki, a win which would be considered an upset. The incredibly physical match from Minami, her longest singles bout to date, comes ahead of her upcoming Super Flyweight title bout against Iwatani next week.
