Due to the ongoing violence in Mexico after the killing of a famous cartel leader, CMLL has canceled its show on Tuesday.

The government of Mexico carried out a mission and captured Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes a.k.a. ‘El Mencho’, leader of one of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel.

From the NY Times:

Mexican security forces on Sunday captured Mr. Oseguera in Tapalpa, a town of about 20,000, in the western coastal state of Jalisco, where his cartel was founded and based, the government said in a statement. Mr. Oseguera was injured in the operation and died while in transport to Mexico City for medical attention, according to the government. At least nine other cartel members were killed.

The Times reports that the fallout has seen violence erupt in at least thirteen states, including road blockages, setting fire, and burning vehicles. It states that the operation against Cervantes and the violent fallout have left at least 62 people dead.

The primary area has been within the state of Jalisco, where Guadalajara is located, with concerts and soccer games canceled. The U.S. State Department has advised Americans in the region to “shelter in place” after many international flights have been canceled.

CMLL stated that Tuesday’s show in Guadalajara is canceled due to the events:

In light of the events of the last few hours in our country, and following the recommendations of the security authorities, we have made the decision to suspend our show on Tuesday, February 24, at the Arena Coliseo in Guadalajara, prioritizing at all times the protection of the best fans in the world.

The decision reflects our commitment to ensuring a safe environment for the audience, the talent, and all personnel involved in the operation of the event.

Tuesday’s show was set to be headlined by Barboza, Difunto & Furia Roja against Dulce Gardenia, and Calavera Jr. I & II.
