Kevin Knight provokes MJF, earns title shot for next week

The latest AEW Collision, an episode taped earlier this week from the Mission Ballroom in Denver, Colorado, opened with comments from AEW World Champion MJF, who learned just recently that he’ll be facing Hangman Adam Page in a Texas Death Match at Revolution next month.

An irate MJF got on the mic and screamed that he’s not a “deathmatch indie bum.” He said he will hold the show hostage “until something gets done” about the Revolution title booking and demanded that Tony Khan come to the stage.

It wasn’t Khan that came out, but instead Kevin Knight. The rising AEW prospect got on the mic and called MJF a “crybaby ass b****,” and said he came out to shut up the champ. Knight started to roast MJF, questioning his wealth, blasting his fashion and his looks.

MJF busted out his new nickname during a retort: “You think you can tell Big Hebrew how to do his job?” The champ laid down the challenge to face him on Wednesday’s episode of AEW Dynamite for the world title. “After I’m done with you, buddy, all you’re gonna be is history,” MJF said.

Knight mentioned last Wednesday that he wants an opportunity at the world title after Hangman Page challenges MJF. It now looks like he’ll actually get the shot before then! Although the result for this one is obvious, I’m looking forward to it. Knight is a great up-and-coming name in AEW who deserves big opportunities like this. I do have to point out, though: MJF was oddly quick to forget during this segment how upset he is about the Revolution match stip, which is funny.

Death Riders score eight-man tag win, Takeshita brawls with Mox

The first matchup of the night was an eight-man faction war, with PAC, Claudio Castagnoli, Daniel Garcia & Wheeler Yuta of the Death Riders facing Josh Alexander, Lance Archer, Rocky Romero & Trent Beretta of the Don Callis Family.

Death Riders were seen doing pushups at ringside as the Callis crew made their entrance, which made me laugh out loud. Yuta, ashamed after losing a hair-versus-hair match in Australia earlier this month, wrestled with a beanie on.

PAC was isolated by the Don Callis Family for minutes on end, eventually getting a hot tag to CMLL champ Castagnoli. The Swiss star took on both Beretta and Alexander at the same time with uppercuts. Beretta tried for a top-rope move, but was dropped mid-air by an uppercut from Castagnoli, giving him a two-count.

Yuta (still with a beanie on head) tagged back in and hit a Doomsday Device on Beretta for a two-count. Yuta went running off the ropes but ate knee strikes from both members of RPG Vice. Archer then got in the ring and gave Yuta a gigantic chokeslam.

Castagnoli distracted a referee by attempting to bring a chair into the ring. This moment allowed Marina Shafir to get into the ring and hop on the back of Archer with a sleeper hold. Archer escaped the submission, but ate a series of strikes from the Death Riders right after, swinging the match’s momentum back into their favor.

A long train of shots from the Death Riders ended after Castagnoli gave Archer a huge powerslam, although the pin attempt was broken up. Romero tagged into the match and hit a Sliced Bread to Yuta for a near fall. He searched for another, but Yuta escaped then hit a Busaiko Knee for the pinfall victory in 15 minutes. A fun little multi-man tag to get things started here.

Konosuke Takeshita appeared during the post-match to confront Jon Moxley his Revolution opponent. While he came out carrying a mic, he instead opted to brawl with the Death Riders to end the segment.

Tommaso Ciampa returns with singles win against Jay Lethal

In his first appearance since dropping the TNT Championship, Tommaso Ciampa faced off against Jay Lethal in the second bout of the night.

Lethal and Ciampa traded a series of hard slaps in the opening minute. Lethal had Blake Christian and Lee Johnson at ringside, and their assistance proved to be quite helpful. A ref distraction early on allowed Christian to briefly give Ciampa a German Suplex. Ciampa wiped out both Johnson and Christian at ringside, but this sidequest allowed Lethal to take control of the match before a break.

Back from commercials, Lethal connected with a Lethal Combination then tried for a top-rope elbow drop. Ciampa reversed the elbow drop attempt into a roll-up which gave him two. Lethal missed on a Lethal Injection but scored with a cutter moments later.

Ciampa reversed a second Lethal Injection, dropkicking him as he hit the ropes. The former WWE star connected with a Lumbar Check for a near fall. The Swirl interfered once again, allowing Lethal to try for a roll-up. But this distraction only swung the momentum in favor of Lethal for a few moments, as Ciampa recovered after the pin attempt and scored a pair of hard knee strikes for the pinfall in nine minutes. A shorter match considering how much of it was obscured by commercials, but definitely a good showcase of Ciampa.

Ciampa was heard calling out TNT Champ Kyle Fletcher for a rematch after the bout.

Recent AEW signings The IInspiration said in a promo that they’ll make their TV debut on Wednesday’s Dynamite. It was announced a little later that they’re facing The Brawling Birds, who they have been feuding with since AEW’s trip to Australia recently.

They also aired a really quick vignette for Clark Connors. Whoever was in charge of the cinematography/editing on this hit it out of the park.

The Brawling Birds score quick win

The Brawling Birds duo of Alex Windsor and Jamie Hayter were in action next, facing the duo of Gypsy Mac and Tyra Russamee.

Mac is a vet of Vegas-based promotion Future Stars of Wrestling. Russamee, who mainly works for Primos in Denver, had also previously appeared on an episode of AEW Dark before.

This was unsurprisingly a quick win, with the AEW duo hitting their Two Birds, One Stone double-team lariat finisher for the win – amazing name for their finisher by the way.

Next week’s Collision will feature a “$200,000 four-way tag,” with The Swirl, Private Party, The Outrunners, and the duo of Dralistico and Rush in action. Worth noting: Dralistico has been out of action due to injury since October, and Rush hasn’t wrestled since November.

ProtoKada win tag debut, get called out by JetSpeed

The duo of Kazuchika Okada and Kyle Fletcher, who were definitely not formed to make Fletcher friend Konosuke Takeshita jealous, were in action next against Top Flight.

Darius Martin got a hot tag moment just after a commercial break, hitting a Northern Lights Suplex on Okada for a near fall. Fletcher got back into the match and had a two-count of his own after hitting a Michinoku Driver.

Dante got back into the match and hit a double-team Angel’s Wings onto Fletcher, but Okada broke up a follow-up pin attempt.

Darius dodged a Rainmaker from Okada but ate a nasty dropkick after coming running off the ropes. Okada scored with the Rainmaker upon second attempt then tagged in Fletcher, who had the honors of ending the match with a Teardrop Brainbuster.

Fletcher got on the mic and said “Say my full name” (fans still haven’t figured out what they’re supposed to reply with). Fletcher said that the ProtoKada duo is unstoppable, and they’ll take on anyone who wants to face them. This challenge was immediately answered by JetSpeed! This segment was a little all over the place, as Bailey and Knight mentioned numerous possible matches they’d like to have. However, it seemed like the one they wanted to emphasize the most was that they were willing to wager their six-man belts against ProtoKada and a third teammate of their choosing.

Toni Storm fights with rival Marina Shafir after singles win

Toni Storm was up next, facing Zayda Steel in a one-on-one bout. After finishing up her mixed tag program with Orange Cassidy earlier this month, we don’t really know what’s next for the former women’s champ just yet.

I thought this would be a relatively quick squash, but Steel got some moves in early on, including a tope suicida to the outside. Storm battled back into the fight with a series of German Suplexes, then gave Steel a hip attack in the corner. Storm scored her Storm Zero piledriver to win it in three and a half minutes.

Marina Shafir appeared in the ring afterward and started to brawl with Storm, so I guess the feud between them is just going to continue. Wheeler Yuta hit the ring but ran away in embarrassment once Storm ripped the beanie off him and revealed his bald head. I’m not big on this feud continuing, if that’s the plan. I mean, Storm vs. Death Riders has essentially been going since Worlds End in late 2025, when the Mixed Nuts Mayhem match took place. It’s almost March – I’m a little over it now.

Anthony Bowens was seen outside the venue asking Hook if he could join The Opps. Hook admitted they’re friends, but wasn’t too sure about Bowens joining the group: “This is business.”

“Let me think about it… Make sure to think about what I said,” Hook replied.

Thunder Rosa earns tag win ahead of world title bout

Before Thunder Rosa challenges Thekla on Wednesday’s Dynamite, she teamed with former women’s champ Kris Statlander to face Thekla allies Julia Hart and Skye Blue in the co-main event.

They wanted to give Rosa some shine here ahead of her title match, so it’s not surprising that she got the hot tag after commercials. Rosa battled with both Sisters of Sin at the same time, taking them out with clotheslines. Rosa hit dropkicks in the corner to both women, then gave Blue a Northern Lights Suplex. Hart broke up the pin.

After a fast-paced sequence involving all four wrestlers, it came down to Hart and Statlander.

Statlander connected with Saturday Night Fever then tagged in Rosa, who scored the Fire Thunder Driver for the pin in 10 minutes. Decent preview match before Rosa challenges for the title on Wednesday.

Thekla got on the mic after the match, calling Statlander and Rosa “dumb bitches.” She treated her win over Statlander as a cautionary tale for Rosa. The Austrian star called Rosa and Statlander “the past of the AEW women’s division,” and said the world title belongs to her.

Andrade El Idolo takes down NJPW’s Tomohiro Ishii, Bandido vs. Andrade made official for Revolution

The main event of the night saw Andrade El Idolo go head-to-head with NJPW’s Tomohiro Ishii, and incredibly fun pairing. Let’s see if it delivered.

Andrade came out of the corner with a crossbody for a near fall at the two-minute mark. Ishii was sent to ringside after eating a nasty dropkick. Andrade tried for a springboard moonsault but was ripped off the apron by Ishii, providing a hard landing to the floor.

Back in the ring, Andrade came off the ropes with a gnarly front kick, sort of landing on Ishii after scoring the blow. Andrade brought Ishii to ringside, where he chopped Ishii’s chest and bashed his head on the announce desk.

Andrade did his usual spot at ringside, finding a woman with a front-row ticket who wanted a selfie just before the show went to its final break.

Ishii had some momentum as the show came back. He ran the ropes for a high-impact lariat, but Andrade was able to avoid the move and instead hit a Three Amigos.

Andrade tried for a double knees in the corner, but Ishii escaped and instead scored a German Suplex. Andrade was flattened out after taking a headbutt from Ishii. The “Stone Pitbull” got a near fall after a sliding lariat.

Andrade escaped a brainbuster, then ended a striking exchange by sending Ishii face-first into a middle turnbuckle. Andrade hit the double knees in the corner upon second attempt, but it wasn’t enough to put away Ishii just yet.

Ishii rolled out of the way to avoid a top-rope moonsault from Andrade. However, Andrade landed on his feet after the failed high-risk move and followed up with a standing moonsault, which did land.

Ishii escaped the DM finisher with a head kick, then dropped Andrade with a lariat. Ishii landed another hard blow on Andrade, but Andrade responded with a spinning back elbow to drop him. Andrade then put away Ishii with the DM for the win in 14 minutes. Really fun match between these two.

After the match, ROH World Champion Bandido hit the ring to confront Andrade. Bandido’s left hand was seen in a cast of some sort – he has been out of the ring due to injury in recent weeks.

Andrade answered an open challenge from Bandido on Wednesday, and it was confirmed in this moment that they will officially face off at Revolution. Bandido put out his arm for a handshake. Andrade declined, spitting at him instead.

Final thoughts

This was certainly one of the more low-key episodes of Collision, building up some smaller angles but not really having any major moments. However, it had some fun action, including an entertaining opener and a main event that lived up to its hype. This was a fun two hours of TV.
