Sean Strickland to challenge Khamzat Chimaev at UFC 328 among multiple fight announcements

Sean Strickland will challenge for the UFC middleweight title in June as part of a slew of fight announcements in the coming months.

UFC CEO Dana White announced upcoming main events, including a lineup for UFC 328 on May 9, when it returns to the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey.

Current champion Khamzat Chimaev (15-0) will defend the 185-pound title for the first time against former champion Strickland (30-7). Chimaev won the belt last August with a unanimous decision victory against Dricus du Plessis at UFC 319. Strickland lost the title to du Plessis in January 2024 and lost a rematch in February 2025. He is coming off a TKO win against Anthony Hernandez to earn his latest title fight.

UFC 328 will include a heavyweight fight between Alexander Volkov and Waldo Cortes-Acosta, and a welterweight fight involving Sean Brady and Joaquin Buckley.
