The days of the Berwyn Eagles Club being a prolific Illinois wrestling venue are coming to an end.

The venue, which has hosted countless events in the past from promotions like AAW, GCW, SHIMMER, RISE, and others, is planning on no longer being the home for wrestling cards going forward.

The decision has caused GCW to relocate its June 20 “Bow Down” card, which was set to take place at the building, per an announcement made on social media today.

“We have just been informed by the venue that all events at the Berwyn Eagles Club (including our June 20th event) will have to be cancelled,” the promotion said on social media.

Information about whether the venue is immediately stopping all wrestling or cutting it off later this year is conflicting currently.

While GCW has moved its event due to the change, a post online from Robert Ego Anthony, a wrestler for AAW, says that the promotion’s April 24 card will be the last one the venue hosts. But whether it’s soon or later, one message is constant: Wrestling at the Eagles Club will soon be a thing of the past.

The decision from the venue comes just weeks after a Ruthless Pro Wrestling event at the venue where MLW talent Mads Krule was attacked and allegedly stabbed by a fan. Video of the incident, which saw numerous wrestlers fight back against the fan, has surfaced online.

Details about the incident, including disputed information regarding whether the fan had actually attempted to stab Krule, remain scarce and have been subject to an ongoing investigation by POST in recent weeks.

POST is still awaiting results from a records request recently filed with the Berwyn Police Department in relation to the incident.

GCW’s Brett Lauderdale said that the venue’s move is due to the recent incident.

“This was directly caused by an incident (the fake stabbing) that took place at another promotions event, which has caused the town, lawyers & police to be involved,” he said on X. “It’s truly a shame to see the Berwyn Eagles and 20+ years of Chicago wrestling history come to an end like this.”

POST Wrestling reached out to the Berwyn Eagles Club for comment via Facebook Messenger. The venue said they will have information on the matter by Tuesday.

The Berwyn Eagles Club has hosted nearly 300 wrestling events since the mid-2000s, per Cagematch.net’s event database. The venue is best known as the main spot for long-standing independent promotion AAW, which has frequently used the location for its events for nearly two decades.
