Three matchups have been confirmed for WWE’s first post-Wrestlemania Premium Live Event (PLE) of 2026.
A pair of grudge matches, along with a bout for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship, have now been added to Backlash, which is scheduled to take place at the Benchmark International Arena in Tampa, Florida on May 9.
The biggest match on the show currently is a contest between Roman Reigns and Jacob Fatu.
Shortly after Reigns took the World Heavyweight title off CM Punk at Wrestlemania, Jacob Fatu stepped up as his first challenger. While Reigns tried to brush off the matchup, Fatu made it clear on this week’s Monday Night Raw that he’s not backing down from the title opportunity. Following a physical confrontation in the ring this week, Reigns confirmed their match for Backlash.
Another major title bout will go down when Seth Rollins meets former Vision teammate Bron Breakker in a singles bout.
Breakker made his return at Wrestlemania, interfering and helping Gunther defeat Rollins in a singles match. The long-awaited showdown between these two, which has been in the works since Rollins was kicked from The Vision last year, will take place in just a few weeks.
It was also confirmed that IYO SKY will face off against Asuka in a singles bout.
This matchup, which POST Wrestling reported was at one point targeted for Wrestlemania, sees SKY try to take down former teammate Asuka. A rivalry between these two previously heavily involved Kairi Sane, who was an ally of Asuka but frequently teased her interest in defecting from their partnership. However, that part of the storyline was wiped from the rivalry after Sane was released by WWE on Friday.
Asuka caused SKY to lose an Intercontinental title opportunity on this week’s Raw, interfering during the closing moments in the match.
Here’s how Backlash looks currently:
- Asuka vs. IYO SKY
- Seth Rollins vs. Bron Breakker
- Roman Reigns vs. Jacob Fatu (WWE World Heavyweight Championship)
