Friday Night Saints
Cody Rhodes came out to pro-Cody chants. He told everyone he was cleared for action, and after asking what was next for him, Ricky Saints’ music played. Ricky had a mild reaction, but his first words were, “You can boo what you can’t understand.” He called himself the hottest and flyest free agent and pointed out that he and Cody weren’t strangers. However, he felt a change in the air, a revolution, which he would lead to create Friday Night Saints. The crowd was behind Cody as he asked Ricky what the difference would be from the last time he stepped up to him. Ricky said that it was the staples on his head, his eye, and the wear and tear from his three title reigns that aged him “30 years.” Ricky said he was behind Cody in accomplishments, but he’s here now to relieve him of his duties. Cody agreed to a match, and Ricky’s final word was that he would change who the show is about. Cody reminded Ricky that he is easy to find but hard to beat.

Three’s a crowd
Charlotte Flair and Alexa Bliss were backstage, and Charlotte was asked how she’ll handle Fatal Influence’s numbers game. Before she could answer, Rhea Ripley came up to them and said that she had been ambushed last week. Rhea offered to back up Charlotte, but Charlotte said she only needed Alexa and wasn’t interested in teaming with Rhea again.
Jacy Jayne vs. Charlotte Flair
Jacy cut a promo before the match, saying that Fatal Influence will take out everyone’s favorite legends, starting with Charlotte. This was a fine match, with Charlotte, naturally, audibly calling spots for Jacy, who regained control when the match went into a picture-in-picture break. Later in the match, Jayne’s Rolling Encore was met by a boot from Charlotte. She followed up with the Figure Four and tried to go for the Figure Eight, but Fallon Henley knocked her down when the referee wasn’t looking. Alexa took Henley out, but Lainey Reid took Bliss out. Charlotte gives Lainey a boot, but Jacy caught her with Rolling Encore for the win. Fatal Influence had the numbers game on Charlotte and Alexa, but Rhea came in for the save. Jacy avoided a Riptide and tried to push Rhea into Charlotte. They avoided a collision and shook hands.

Women’s Tag prep
Paige and Brie Bella offered their props to Fatal Influence, but added that karma would come back to them. They talked about their tag title match against The Irresistible Forces and plan on leaving as champions.
Truth-Priest miscommunication
R-Truth was backstage with Fraxiom, though he thought they were Los Americanos. Damian Priest offered Fraxiom a shot at the tag team titles, which they weren’t expecting, and Nathan Frazer was quick to accept. Truth told Priest that they actually were talking about taxes and scolded Priest for handing out tag title opportunities.
Toxic Mizhausen
The Miz and Kit Wilson tried to set up a trap for Danhausen backstage with the allure of “human monies” in a briefcase. Danhausen opened the briefcase and took $40,000 (Danhausen said $400) without incident. Miz and Kit opened the briefcase and were hit with what was probably flour in the face.
Tag Team Championship: R-Truth & Damian Priest (c) vs. Fraxiom
This was Fraxiom’s first TV match since March 20. Highlight for Fraxiom came when Axiom dragged Priest off the apron after Truth did Cena’s Five Moves of Doom. Truth was sent outside, and Fraxiom each hit suicide dives. Frazer hit a top con hilo, and Axiom hit a triangle moonsault. Fraxiom hit Catapulta Infernal, but Priest boots Axiom into the pin to break it up. He then dragged Priest into the corner to tag himself in. He hit South of Heaven on Frazer and won with a Razor’s Edge on Axiom. Talla Tonga then came in and attacked both teams after the match, with Solo Sikoa watching from the apron.

Bloodline drama
Solo Sikoa remained in the ring after the break and said that Jacob Fatu made a big mistake last week, and he’s a dead man for taking out his family. The Usos then entered and told Solo that Jacob has big problems with Roman Reigns, especially after he used the Tongan Death Grip. He pointed out that it was Talla’s father’s move and should only be used as a last resort. The Usos said they weren’t asking Solo to stay away from Jacob; they were telling him that he’s Roman’s problem. Solo laughed and gave a nod to Talla, who took out The Usos and said that Roman wasn’t his Tribal Chief, so whether he likes it or not, Jacob is a dead man.

Sami-Cody reunite
We got our first Sami Zayn-Cody backstage segment since WrestleMania. Sami questioned Cody, thinking “golden boy” was an insult because everyone wants to be the golden boy. He said he’s tired of the misunderstandings between him and Cody and pointed out that they should stick together because they are a dying breed: the last real good guys. Cody admitted that Sami said a lot of truths, but they are not the same.
Ricky Saints vs. Cody Rhodes
This was the first one-on-one match between these two since June 17, 2020. Long heat segment for Saints ended when Cody caught Saints with a snap powerslam. He hit the Disaster Kick, followed up by a Cody Cutter. Saints avoided a lawn dart and hit Cody with the Cross Rhodes for a two-count. Saints hit the Revolution DDT, but the Roshambdo was countered into a Cross Rhodes for a win for Cody. After the match, Gunther came out of nowhere and knocked Cody out with two sleeper holds. He held the Undisputed Title up high, so that will be the next program.

Mizhausen official?
Danhausen was in the ring and gave away free stuff to the fans. The Miz came out and admitted he was cursed. The crowd chanted, “Yes, you are,” and Miz offered to be Danhausen’s menor. Kit Wilson’s music played before Miz and Danhausen could shake hands. Kit told Miz that he is his mentor, but Miz pointed out to Kit that Danhausen has mastered the curse, inspiring everyone. Kit begged Miz to give them a chance, and Miz played to the crowd over whose hand he would shake. He shook Danhausen’s hand, and Danhausen was going to curse Kit, but Miz attacked him from behind. It turned out to be a ruse, and Miz and Kit ganged up on Danhausen.

Monroe coming soon
We got what probably will be the first of many Blake Monroe vignettes. This was similar to the NXT ones, where Blake is in a bathtub and takes off a rope to show off her outfit. No official word on when she’ll debut.

Royce Keys vs. Angel
Quick squash match here. Keys yelled “aight” when he carried around Angel, so it seems like they’re trying to make that a catchphrase. Keys hit a great-looking spinning powerslam off the second rope and then the ultimate spinebuster for the win.
Women’s U.S. Title open challenge
It was Tiffany Stratton’s birthday tonight, and Chelsea Green, who can walk again, wanted to celebrate with Tiffany before she gave her a shot at the U.S. Title. Giulia and Kiana James came up to them, and Kiana said she got a rematch for Giulia, but Tiffany said the open challenge is directed at Kiana.
Solo revenge
Royce Keys was on the phone with someone backstage. He reunited with Jacob Fatu. Keys pointed out that they’ve known each other for 14-15 years. He told Jacob he needed to werewolf his ass up and take it to Roman. He asked Jacob whether WWE had made him lose the smell of the streets and said that people like them take what they want. Talla Tonga then came out of nowhere and took out Royce. He then chokeslammed Jacob through a table, with Solo trash-talking.

Sami, Trick and a Gingerbread Man
Sami is in the ring with a Gingerbread Man costume held up in the middle. Sami talked about Bob Dylan and how, when he went electric, fans turned on him. He found that relatable and doesn’t deal well with disrespect. He said the Gingerbread Man represents Trick more than him. It represents a shell of a man wearing a costume. He said it’s easy to do what Trick does, have an entrance, dance, and shout catchphrases. What’s hard is what he does: put everything in the ring. He said Trick was not taking anything seriously, and the Gingerbread Man disrespected him. He took down the Gingerbread Man, and Trick ran in, throwing punches at Sami, who ran away.

Women’s tag redemption
The Irresistible Forces talked about not pining and planned to end Paige and Brie’s nostalgia run, sending them back to the couch with Nikki.
Gingerbread Man update
Cathy Kelly was backstage for a medical update on the Gingerbread Man. Yes, seriously. Trick wasn’t happy about Sami taking out Lil Yachty last week, and now he took out the Gingerbread Man. That messed with Trick’s money. He’s happy to give Sami another title match and beat him again. A doctor came out and gave Trick bad news on the Gingerbread Man, and Trick said that at Backlash, he’ll whoop that trick.
Women’s Tag Team Championship: Paige & Brie Bella (c) vs. The Irresistible Forces
After a mid-commercial break, Paige got the hot tag and took it to Lash Legend. Lash caught a crossbody attempt from Paige, but Brie blind tagged in. Paige caught Lash with a Paige Turner, and Brie hit the Bella Buster, but Nia broke up the pin. Nia tagged in and set up Brie for the Annihilator, but Lash, trying to get in the ring, got the ref’s attention, which helped Paige trip up Nia. Bella pinned her to retain the titles.

R.I.P. Gingerbread Man
WWE went all in on the death of the Gingerbread Man with an In Memoriam graphic. “Rest in Pieces.”
Nick Aldis: matchmaker
Announced for next week is a funeral for the Gingerbread Man. Sami asked Nick Aldis if this was a joke. Nick told Sami to have some respect for others’ grieving. He made the U.S. Title match official for Backlash. Danhausen surprised Aldis, and Danhausen wanted a match against The Miz. Aldis said Danhausen can have a match against Miz and Kit at Backlash if he finds a tag team partner.

Solo Sikoa & Talla Tonga vs. The Usos
Sikoa and Talla had control over Jimmy, but Solo set up the Samoan Spike too long, allowing the hot tag to Jey, who eventually got the spear on Solo. Talla made the save, but The Usos hit him with superkicks. The fighting went outside, where Jacob surprised Talla with a splash, ending the match in a DQ. Solo tried to appeal to Jacob, but he took him out with the Tongan Death Grip. Talla tried to send Jacob through the announcer’s table, but Jacob caught him with the Tongan Death Grip and landed the Samoan Drop through the table. Jacob and The Usos stared each other down in the ring, with the crowd chanting, “OTC.” Jacob walked past them and told them to tell Roman that he’ll dog walk him at Backlash.
