AEW Collision 5/2 Results: Colten and Austin Gunn return, three Championships defended, message of support for Rebel

The Gunn Club returned to aid the Bang Bang Gang on the May 2 episode of AEW Collision.

The show from Peoria, Illinois, featured three title defenses, including Kevin Knight successfully retaining the TNT Championship against HOOK in the main event.

In addition, AEW commentator Tony Schiavone delivered a message of support to Tanea Brooks (Rebel) following her diagnosis of ALS.

The Death Riders and The Dogs vs. The Rascalz and Top Flight

The opening ten-man tag team match began with a brawl at ringside. In the ring, Myron Reed executed a double cutter on David Finlay and Clark Connors. Dezmond Xavier followed with a handspring somersault kick on Connors for a near-fall.

The match broke down with everyone in the ring, leading to stereo Codebreakers on Finlay and Connors. Top Flight hit an assisted DDT on Jon Moxley. Darius Martin was then trapped in the Death Riders’ corner, and PAC submitted him with the Brutalizer.

Perry’s National Tour

A vignette aired showing Jack Perry and Luchasaurus aboard the Jurassic Express bus. Perry claimed he was stacking challengers and would not stop for anyone. He kicked the cameraman off the bus after he protested Perry’s use of the F-word.

Jack Perry vs. Mascara Dorada

Jack Perry defended the AEW National Championship against Mascara Dorada. Dorada executed a Destroyer on top of the ringside barricade. Perry later hit a Blue Thunder Bomb for a near-fall. He also connected with a moonsault from the top rope to the floor. 

Dorada rallied with an electric chair neckbreaker and a 450 Splash, but Perry kicked out. Perry blocked a Shooting Star Press by raising his knees. Dorada pushed Perry off the top turnbuckle, but Perry immediately returned to execute an avalanche hurricanrana for the win.

Statlander snaps at Shida

AEW aired footage of Renee Paquette interviewing Kris Statlander and Hikaru Shida following Dynamite. Statlander blamed Shida for tagging herself in and costing her the chance to become a triple crown champion. Statlander shoved Shida against the wall and then walked away.

The Conglomeration vs. MXM TV

Orange Cassidy, Kyle O’Reilly, and Roderick Strong faced Johnny TV, Mason Madden, and Mansoor in a trios match. O’Reilly and Strong left Johnny TV unconscious with a double-team maneuver. Strong and O’Reilly dragged Johnny closer to Cassidy, who hit a diving elbow drop for the pinfall.

Tommaso Ciampa issues a warning

Tommaso Ciampa appeared after the match to taunt The Conglomeration. Dax Harwood faces Orange Cassidy in a Double Jeopardy match on Wednesday. If Harwood wins, Ciampa and FTR will receive a Trios Title shot.

AEW sends well wishes to Rebel

Tony Schiavone delivered a message of support to Tanea Brooks (Rebel) on behalf of AEW. Schiavone noted that fans in attendance brought signs of support for her. He concluded by saying, “Rebel, we hope you get better. We are thinking about you. A wonderful young lady.”

Willow Nightingale vs. Anna Jay

Willow Nightingale defended the TBS Championship against Anna Jay. Nightingale hit a superplex and a Death Valley Driver for a near-fall. Jay applied the Queenslayer submission hold, but Nightingale powered out by ramming Jay into the corner. Nightingale then executed the Babe with the Powerbomb to retain the title.

Statlander remains stone-faced

Renee Paquette interviewed Hikaru Shida, Kris Statlander, Harley Cameron, and Mina Shirakawa. Shida stated she secured a tag team match against Cameron and Shirakawa to make it up to Statlander. Shirakawa questioned Statlander’s whereabouts during the attack on Toni Storm. Statlander remained silent and walked away.

Wheeler Yuta and Daniel Garcia vs. Juice Robinson and Ace Austin

Jon Moxley joined commentary for the tag team match between The Death Riders and The Bang Bang Gang. Wheeler Yuta was busted open during the contest. Yuta hit a flying splash on Juice Robinson, but Robinson kicked out. Robinson ducked a Busaiku Knee from Yuta, while Ace Austin connected with a spinning heel kick on Daniel Garcia. Robinson punched Yuta and hit his DDT finisher to win the match.

The Gunns return to aid the Bang Bang Gang

Juice Robinson gestured toward Jon Moxley after the match, signaling his desire for an AEW Continental Title shot. Wheeler Yuta and Daniel Garcia attacked the Bang Bang Gang from behind. Colten and Austin Gunn returned to make the save. They set Moxley up for the 3:10 to Yuma, but Marina Shafir intervened. The Gunns executed the maneuver on Yuta instead.

Divine Dominion warns the women’s division

Divine Dominion delivered a promo warning the women’s division to stop trying to challenge them. They stated that if two former women’s champions could not defeat them, no one could stand up to them.

Skye Blue vs. Nixi XS

Skye Blue dominated Nixi XS in singles action. Blue hit a hanging neckbreaker off the apron to the floor and a powerbomb out of the corner. She broke up her own pinfall attempt after a running knee strike. Blue then submitted Nixi XS with her variation on the dragon sleeper.

Kevin Knight vs. HOOK

Kevin Knight defended the TNT Championship against HOOK in the main event. HOOK threw Knight into the barricade multiple times. Katsuyori Shibata shook the ropes to knock Knight off balance while the referee was distracted.

HOOK capitalized with an avalanche overhead suplex and a high-angle suplex. He applied the Redrum choke, but Knight rolled over to escape. Knight then punched Shibata off the apron. He hit a jumping DDT on HOOK and finished him with the UFO splash to retain the title.
