Yota Tsuji will challenge for the IWGP Heavyweight Championship at Dominion next month.
Tsuji pinned Callum Newman on Wednesday’s Ignition to Dominion card in the tag team main event to earn the rematch on June 14 in Osaka.
Tsuji and Shingo Takagi were victorious against Newman & Jake Lee in front of 757 fans at Karatsu City Gymnasium. Tsuji survived a low blow by Newman as Takagi fired off strikes at the champion. Tsuji hit the Gene Blaster, but Lee interrupted the cover before he was disposed of with a Pumping Bomber. Takagi stepped aside, instructing Tsuji to execute the Gene Blaster, and proceeded to pin Newman.
It sets up Newman’s second title defense at Dominion next month at Osaka-jo Hall against the man he beat for the title at Sakura Genesis last month.
Dominion is scheduled to air on TV-Asahi in Japan, which is the second time this year the broadcaster has aired a New Japan show following Wrestle Kingdom 20 in January.
