Before Sunday’s AEW Double or Nothing pay-per-view went live from New York City, three matches took place as part of a free pre-show.

The pre-show concluded with a huge multi-man tag match which saw viral sensation Big Boom AJ return to the ring. AJ, alongside members of The Conglomeration and his Boom and Doom tag partner, QT Marshall, beat Shane Taylor Promotions in a six-minute tag match, ending with a superplex out of the corner from the TikTok star.

Shane Taylor Promotions were seemingly plotting a post-match attack, but retreated after New York’s own Eddie Kingston and Ortiz, as well as Mance Warner, hit the ring for the save.

The Opps’ Anthony Bowens found himself in a three-on-one situation late in a trios match against the Death Riders, causing him to get put away by a nasty uppercut from Claudio Castagnoli for the pinfall finish in 10 minutes.

AEW Women’s Tag Team Champions Divine Dominion opened the night with a four-minute win, taking out Zayda Steel and Viva Van in a title eliminator bout. The champs attempted to continue their beatdown after winning via double-chokeslam to Steel, but had the attack stopped by the duo of Tay Melo and Anna Jay, who came in for the save.

Arguably the biggest headline of the pre-show emerged outside of the ring, as it was announced that wrestling star Mick Foley has joined AEW’s roster in a broadcasting role. Shortly after Foley appeared on-screen as a co-host for the Buy-In alongside Renee Paquette, Khan confirmed that Foley was “All Elite.”

Foley had an exchange on the mic with Double or Nothing headliner MJF as part of the pre-show, warning him that he could be hours away from losing his hair in a title match against Darby Allin. An attack from MJF was stopped by Allin, who came in for the save.

Foley ended the segment by telling Allin to “win one for the weirdos” tonight.
