Maya World secured a huge victory over Athena to advance to the Owen Hart Foundation tournament final on the June 20 episode of AEW Collision.
The taped show from Sugar Land, Texas, also featured the return of Matt Sydal and Chris Jericho accepting a challenge from Tommaso Ciampa.

The Elite faction faced The Lethal Twist in six-man tag team action to open the show. Jay Lethal hit a double Lethal Injection on Matt and Nick Jackson, but Jack Perry made the save. The Young Bucks eventually isolated Lee Johnson and executed the Meltzer Driver to secure the pinfall.
Shaking on it
Mina Shirakawa and Kris Statlander exchanged words backstage ahead of their qualifying match. Harley Cameron eased the tension by insisting the two women shake hands.

Kris Statlander vs. Mina Shirakawa
Kris Statlander and Mina Shirakawa competed for a spot in the Survival of the Fittest match. Shirakawa attempted to apply La Mistica in the closing moments. Statlander rolled through the submission attempt and scored the victory with a pinfall. The two competitors shook hands and shared a group hug with Harley Cameron after the bell.
A snippy commercial
The Bang Bang Gang aired a parody commercial for a pet neutering clinic to taunt The Dogs.

- Jack Perry delivered a backstage promo challenging Zack Sabre Jr. to a match on Dynamite.
The Hurt Syndicate vs. Warren Johnson & Zack Mason
Bobby Lashley and Shelton Benjamin dominated their local opponents in a quick tag team match. Lashley leveled Warren Johnson with a spear. Benjamin then dragged Johnson to the center of the ring and made the cover.
Open for business
MVP grabbed a microphone and stated that The Hurt Syndicate operates purely for profit. He declared that they are not interested in championships or making friends. MVP invited anyone with a bag of cash to hire them to inflict pain.

Sydal takes flight
Christopher Daniels introduced the returning Matt Sydal during a backstage segment. Sydal aligned himself with SkyFlight after an absence of more than two years due to injury. He promised to take his career to higher heights than ever before.

A bloody Beach Break
Tommaso Ciampa and Chris Jericho met face-to-face in the ring. Ciampa challenged Jericho to a match at the upcoming Beach Break event, which Jericho accepted. Ciampa then struck Jericho with a low blow and smashed his head into the steel steps. He hit a bloodied Jericho with a running knee strike and stood tall over the veteran.

Mistico vs. Dante Martin
Mistico returned to AEW to face Dante Martin. Martin targeted Mistico’s injured knee throughout the match and executed a package powerbomb for a near-fall. Mistico recovered and hit a Spanish Fly from the top rope to win the match.
PAC vs. Jay Alexander
PAC made quick work of Jay Alexander in singles competition. Marina Shafir delivered a cheap shot to Alexander on the outside while Jon Moxley provided commentary. PAC executed a shotgun dropkick and locked in the Brutalizer to force a submission.
Ricochet’s demands
Ricochet called out Konosuke Takeshita and challenged him for the AEW International Championship.

- The Dogs delivered a promo threatening Adam Copeland and Christian Cage ahead of Forbidden Door.
- Thunder Rosa challenged Divine Dominion for the tag titles, announcing CMLL’s Olympia as her partner.
Zack Sabre Jr. vs. Adam Priest
Zack Sabre Jr. wrestled Adam Priest in a highly technical bout. Priest inflicted damage on Sabre’s left leg with a chop block and targeted the joint. Sabre focused his attacks on Priest’s left arm. Sabre eventually escaped a half-crab and trapped Priest in a complex double-arm submission to secure the tap out.
Divine intervention
Divine Dominion accepted Thunder Rosa’s challenge during a backstage interview.

Maya World vs. Athena
Maya World and Athena clashed in the main event to determine Mercedes Moné’s opponent in the Owen Hart Foundation tournament final. Athena slammed World onto the barricade and shouted at her to fight for her recently deceased brother. World fired back with clubbing blows, but Athena eventually connected with the O-Face.
World shocked the crowd by kicking out of the finisher. Athena charged forward, but World ducked and applied a bridging roll-up to score the upset.

A cruel statement
Athena embraced World in the ring after the match. Mercedes Moné then arrived and hugged World as well. Athena then blindsided World with a strike to the face. Moné joined the assault and locked World in the Statement Maker submission to close the broadcast.
