WWE NXT Results: Grayson Waller ‘Pipe Bomb’, goes after Cruz Montana & Tony D’Angelo

Netflix Ad Break Comedy Act

WWE NXT from the Performance Center kicked off with Grayson Waller storming the ring and cutting a promo, going over his accolades and how, at some point, something changed and the last two years were an “absolute embarrassment.” He noted being dressed for a funeral for the last year, but it was a “new day”. He said he got into the best shape of his life, and he needed the NXT Championship because he was treated as a Netflix Ad Break Comedy Act.

He made fun of Cruz Montana’s new name and said in six weeks, there would be a shiny new toy and the fans wouldn’t care about him. Waller continued, “Being the best guy in TNA is like being the best basketball player at the local YMCA”. A producer tried to stop Waller, and he said for Shawn Michaels to send out one of his guys to stop him. He told the roster to get off their phones and get off TikTok, and the NXT Women’s roster is running laps around the men. Finally, his mic was cut off, and he spoke directly into the camera before the camera cut to commercial as well. 

After the break, Myles Borne, Tavion Heights, and Mason Rook talked about Waller’s promo, and Rook said that he wanted to show that the NXT men are worth it. 

Lizzy Rain vs. Izzi Dame

The first match of the evening saw Lizzy Rain taking on The Culling’s Izzi Dame. As the match began, Vic Joseph wondered aloud how many times he and Booker T would mess up their names during the match. A picture-in-picture video aired of Cruz Montana arriving at the arena, passing by Grayson Waller as he entered. Meanwhile in the ring, Izzi Dame took control as the show went to ad break. Upon return, Lizzy was beginning to mount a comeback, taking it to Dame. Dame countered with a Blue Thunder Bomb for a near fall, despite Rain’s shoulder being on Dame’s leg, which Vic Joseph correctly pointed out.

The action spilled to the outside, and Dame was thrown into the steps. Back in the ring, the two exchanged bigger moves, like Dame hitting a Crucifix Bomb for a two-count. Niko Vance distracted Lizzy Rain, momentarily giving Izzi Dame the advantage. Shawn Spears appeared, swinging a chair at Vance and distracting Dame, allowing Rain to hit the Thunderstruck for the win. 

Naom Dar & Romeo Moreno welcomed Cruz Montana to NXT backstage when Saquon Shugars and Montana said the last time he saw him, he was beating him all over the Garden. Kelani Jordan appeared, and Cruz said she’s come a long way since being Knockouts Champion. Kelani started going off, and Cruz walked off without her realizing. 

Vanity Project was complaining to Robert Stone backstage about Myles and Tavion getting a title shot, and Jaxson Drake said he was going to be the North American champion. Keanu Carver entered and had a stare-down with Myka Lockwood. Carver said he wanted a match against EK Prosper next week, and Stone agreed. Grayson Waller called Robert Stone, and Waller said he needed him back in the building and they weren’t finished. 

A promo package aired ahead of next Tuesday’s NXT Women’s Championship Underground match between Lola Vice and Kendal Grey.

 

Backstage, Jaida Parker and Thea Hail were talking about how happy they were and that they were there for each other. Thea revealed that they had a tag match against Karmen Petrovic and Nikkita Lyons next week, and the two hugged.

 

North American Championship

Next up was Myles Borne defending the North American Championship against Kam Hendrix. Things were essentially even between the two as the match went to a commercial break. Afterward, Hendrix took control after hitting a combo of punches and kicks, followed by a pumphandle slam for a two-count. Mason Rook and Tavion Heights were shown backstage watching and left the room, quickly appearing on the ramp. Heights stopped Rook from interfering while Hendrix hit the Showtime Kick for a near fall. Borne hit the Borne Again for the win. Rook then began his attack on Hendrix. Vanity Project appeared, jumping Tavion and Myles. Borne and Heights managed to fight off the heel Champions, and it was confirmed that they would have an NXT Tag Championship match next week.

Lizzy Rain cut a backstage promo while holding a certain fried chicken brand. Tristan Angels interrupted, saying that he would take out Shiloh Hill later tonight. 

OTM were backstage when Angel and Berto aka Perros del Mal entered, saying they would always have their backs. OTM went to the ring for their match with BirthRight. 

 

Zaria approached Robert Stone in his office when Wren Sinclair interrupted, and the two argued about who should get the next North American title shot. Stone made a Speed Championship match against Zaria next week, and if she wins, she gets a shot at the Women’s North American Championship. 

OTM vs. Birthright

The next match saw OTM taking on BirthRight’s Stacks Lorenzo and Uriah Connors. BirthRight took control early on as OTM was forced to work from underneath. OTM took Stacks and threw him to the outside on top of the rest of BirthRight. After an ad break, OTM got the hot tag, and Lucien took it to both members of BirthRight. Angel and Berto appeared at ringside and distracted the official, allowing BirthRight to hit a two-on-one attack on OTM. This allowed Stacks and Connors to pick up the win. The segment awkwardly ended with OTM and Berto & Angel staring at each other in the ring.

A Kendal Grey promo package aired ahead of her match with Lola Vice next week.

Izzi Dame, Kali Armstrong, and Kelani Jordan argued about who would get the next NXT Women’s title shot after Grey/Vice next week. Reina Volcan sauntered through the background and said, “This women’s division doesn’t rebuild, it reloads”.

Shiloh Hill vs. Tristan Angels

The final match on the show saw Mr. NXT Shiloh Hill taking on Tristan Angels. Angels took control early on as Vic Joseph and Booker T went on and on about Shiloh Hill’s tooth, and then Booker T went on a tirade about Danhausen, teeth, and the Knicks. Hill fought from underneath as Angels slammed Hill into the announce desk and the steps. Angels attempted to hit a knee drop on Hill on the steps, but Hill moved and countered with a powerbomb on the announce desk. Tristan attempted a roll-up while holding the ropes, and the referee caught him. Shiloh Hill hit a Super Thunderbreaker off the top rope for the win. 

Cruz Montana Speaks

The last segment of the night was Cruz Montana (fka Mike Santana) cutting an in-ring promo. Montana talked about mistakes he’s made in his life and times he thought his story was over. He continued, saying that “they” said he reached his ceiling as a tag team wrestler, but he kept moving one opportunity at a time. He said he would take his spot as the next NXT Champion. Montana turned his attention to Grayson Waller, calling his earlier promo “cute.” This brought out NXT Champion Tony D’Angelo, who said that Cruz would never be champion. Grayson Waller appeared, jumping both men from behind. Montana went to take out Waller and took out D’Angelo instead. Montana and D’Angelo stared each other down in the ring as Waller looked on from the outside as the show ended.
