Former UFC light heavyweight talent Anthony Smith was arrested this week and charged with a trio of felonies.
The public database for Sarpy County Jail in Papillion, Nebraska, shows that Smith was arrested on Monday evening and currently faces felony charges of domestic violence causing serious bodily injury, terroristic threats and first-degree false imprisonment.
No further details regarding Smith’s arrest are known at the moment.
Smith fought on the UFC roster for over a decade, most notably challenging Jon Jones for the light heavyweight title in 2019. He departed the promotion’s roster last year after a first-round finish loss to Zhang Mingyang, his 25th appearance for the company.
While Smith announced his retirement following the loss to Zhang, he returned last April with a bare-knuckle MMA victory over Chase Sherman on a Gamebred MMA card.
Along with his MMA career, Smith has established himself as an analyst and on-screen presenter for UFC’s broadcasts.
