Raise Your Fist

AEW Collision live from Detroit kicked off with the AEW debut of Chris Sabin and Alex Shelly, the Motor City Machine Guns. 

They said there was no place they’d rather be than debuting in Detroit, where the best wrestle. They said they were “All Elite” and that was that. 

Trios Championship

The first match of the night was the brand-new, less than 24 hours old Trios Champions, The Demand, defending against The Rascalz. Early in the match, Ricochet hit an impressive dive over the ring post and onto two of the Rascalz on the floor. The Rascalz took over from there, hitting dives on all three champions as the show went to a commercial break. 

Upon return, the action swung back and forth between the six men as the Rascalz kept providing answers and counters to The Demand’s offense. The Demand hit a triple-team maneuver on Wentz and nearly picked up the win. The Rascalz went on a run, nearly stealing the titles after a backslide by Xavier. The Gates of Agony caught Xavier and hit him with Open the Gates for the pinfall victory. 

After the match, The Conglomeration was interviewed backstage, and all three revealed that they had entered their names into the Continental Cup (which still has not been explained at all). Cassidy, O’Reilly, and Strong said they were doing the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge live later tonight on Collision. Tony Schiavone said that details about the Continental Cup would be revealed later tonight. 

 

Continental Cup

After a break, details were revealed about the Continental Challenge Cup. Moxley would be in it and would have to win to retain the title. This was designed to be similar to the FA Cup, beginning with a Round of 16, and culminating at All In London. Nigel McGuinness announced he was inspired and he would be putting his name in for the tournament. 

Ciampa vs. Comoroto

The next match saw Tommaso Ciampa taking on Nick Comoroto, with Ciampa still selling the brutality of his match against Chris Jericho at Redemption. This was a squash with Ciampa winning with the running knee strike in just over one minute. 

Backstage, Hangman Adam Page was interrupted by Brody King, who thanked him for helping out last night on Dynamite. Bandido entered and thanked Hangman as well. Page said he didn’t know what he wanted to do with himself yet, but proposed they challenge for the Trios titles in Mexico next week. Bandido proposed their team be called “El Bueno, El Malo, y El Feo or “The Good, The Bad, & the Ugly”. Brody King asked which one is the ugly one, and the other two smirked and left. 

Athena, Starkz, Diamanté vs. Brawling Birds & Hazuki

The next match featured ROH Women’s Champion Athena and her Minions in Training, Billie Starkz and Diamanté, taking on The Brawling Birds and Hazuki. Early in the match, the action spilled out of the ring and onto the ramp, where Billie Starkz took a nasty-looking spill onto her back to the floor. After a commercial, all women were back in the ring, and Hazuki was taking it to the Minions. Diamanté hit a Chaos Theory Suplex on Windsor, but Hazuki attempted a pin on Diamanté, nearly picking up the win. The Bralwing Birds picked Hazuki up and threw her into Diamanté in the corner as she hit a John Woo dropkick.

Hazuki and Athena went at it, and the announcers said they’d love to see the two of them square off for the ROH Women’s title. Ultimately, The Brawling Birds hit Two Birds One Stone on Diamanté for the win. After the match, Divine Dominion attacked the Brawling Birds while Athena and her Minions attacked Hazuki. 

The Demand and Lethal Twist cut a backstage promo accepting Hangman & Brodido’s challenge. Jay Lethal said that he was going to crush Komander’s dreams of wrestling next week at Grand Slam Mexico. 

ALS Ice Bucket Challenge

Next, Orange Cassidy, Kyle O’Reilly, and Roderick Strong did the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge on the stage. Rhino and Insane Clown Posse came out to dump the ice water on them to a huge ovation. The trio took their ice buckets like champs as the crowd chanted “Rebel”. This was so weird but heartwarming as well. 

Death Riders vs. Bang Bang Gang

The next match was Ace Austin, The Gunns, and Juice Robinson taking on Jon Moxley, Claudio Castagnoli, Wheeler Yuta, and Pac. Juice Robinson was introduced as “Stray Bullet” instead of “Rock Hard,” which was still written on his jacket. Early in the match, Ace Austin impressively backsquatted both Pac and Yuta before dropping them both to the mat.

After an ad break, Tony Schiavone announced that this coming Friday night, he and Tony Khan would have a Continental Cup announcement video on YouTube. Back in the ring, the action went back and forth with The Gunns hitting the 3:10 to Yuma, but then the action broke down with all eight men fighting in and out of the ring. Juice Robinson went on offense against Wheeler Yuta and rolled him up for the win before the Death Riders could break up the cover.

After the match, The Dogs and Death Riders attacked the Bang Bang Gang, and the Motor City Machine Guns ran down with chairs to make the save. Finlay nearly jumped MCMG from behind, but the Bang Bang Gang made the save. BBG and MCMG shook hands as the segment ended. 

Tommaso Ciampa cut a backstage promo, saying that he was focused on the Casino Gauntlet match at All In. He challenged Andrade for next week in Mexico, with the winner getting the #1 slot in the gauntlet. 

Statlander in Action 

Next, Kris Statlander faced Aurora Teves, with Statlander challenging Persephone to a match this coming Wednesday at Grand Slam Mexico in an in-set promo. Statlander defeated Teves with the Staturday Night Fever in under ninety seconds.

Backstage, Kyle Fletcher and Mike Bailey faced off ahead of their match next week for the International Championship. Bailey said he wanted Fletcher without the Don Callis Family, and Fletcher kicked Bailey in the face. The action spilled from backstage down to the ring, and Bailey got the better of Fletcher, chasing him off. Bailey posed with the International title as the segment ended. 

Kevin Knight cut a promo on behalf of himself, Okada, and Hechicero, challenging any former World Champions who want to step up to them at Grand Slam Mexico next week. 

Lethal vs. Komander

The next match saw Komander taking on Jay Lethal. Early in the match, Lethal saw the Spaceman rope walk coming and maneuvered out of the way. Komander didn’t miss a beat and instead jumped to the top rope and hit a moonsault onto Lethal on the outside. 

After an ad break, Komander continued taking it to Jay Lethal when Tony Schiavone announced more matches for Grand Slam Mexico, including Adam Copeland & Christian Cage teaming with The Young Bucks to take on the Death Riders. Meanwhile, Komander hit the Cielito Lindo for the win. It was announced that Komander would join Tommaso Ciampa and Andrade in the match next week to determine the first entrant for the Casino Gauntlet match at All In.
