Many TNA viewers were expecting to see a TNA World Championship match on Thursday its champion acknowledging the confusing language in its advertising.
TNA had been promoting a match between Nic Nemeth and Jeff Hardy for the championship on Thursday, July 30, at the Liacouras Center in Philadelphia. However, the match was taped for the audience in Philadelphia and won’t air for two weeks.
In some advertising, it stated, “Nic Nemeth battles Jeff Hardy on Thursday, July 30, live on Thursday Night Impact, airing on AMC in the United States.”
When TNA posted its weekly preview of the episode, it didn’t list the match, but plenty of advertising did promote the July 30 date for those attending the taping.
On Friday, Nemeth sympathised with the fans that were confused and acknowledged the confusion:
The wording WAS confusing on the adverts, for a large part of the audience. We knew the schedule for weeks & as champ, I take responsibility for not conveying this clearer. Also; INCREDIBLE main event last night (& for weeks to come) + PHILLY AGAIN TONIGHT!
TNA is coming off its most-watched episode of Impact since debuting on AMC, with the July 23 episode averaging 307,000 viewers and 0.05 in the 18-49 demographic, featuring The Righteous Deletion involving The Hardys and The Righteous.
