Brie Bella was taken to a hospital for scans after suffering a shoulder injury during SummerSlam night one.

WWE Chief Content Officer Paul Levesque confirmed the injury during a post-show press conference. He said Bella received treatment at U.S. Bank Stadium before leaving for further examination.

“She’s injured. I don’t have an update yet,” Levesque said. “She hurt her shoulder. It seems pretty bad, but I don’t have the answer yet.”

Levesque expressed hope that the injury would prove less serious than initially feared. He added that it appeared to be the only significant injury arising from Saturday’s event, and that WWE would adjust its plans as necessary.

Bella began favoring her right shoulder during the six-woman tag match in which she and Nikki Bella teamed with Paige against Fatal Influence. She held the arm close to her body and limited her involvement during the closing stages.

Fatal Influence won when Jacy Jayne pinned Paige. The Bella Twins then attacked Paige, with Nikki delivering the Rack Attack 2.0.

The injury occurred during Nikki’s first match since returning from her own lengthy absence. She came back to WWE television eight days earlier, helping Brie and Paige repel Fatal Influence on the July 24 episode of SmackDown.
