Shortly after his return at WWE SummerSlam, Kevin Owens publicly thanked Tanea Brooks for inspiring him. Brooks has since commented about Owens’ message.
Owens returned to the ring on Sunday as a surprise to become the #1 contender for the Undisputed WWE Championship after having neck surgery over a year ago.
Appearing on the SummerSlam post-show, Owens mentioned Tanea Brooks as an inspiration throughout his recovery.
She’s currently battling ALS, and the way she’s doing it is so incredible. I looked at her and what she was going through and the way she powered through it, and it was truly inspirational.
After hearing his message, Brooks posted a response:
Thank you KO. I am proud of your return and you fighting through it to get there. Never Stop giving your everything because you are right, it can be taken away in a second.
AEW is set to hold a special “Rebel Heart” edition of Dynamite on September 9 in Athens, Georgia, to honor Brooks.
