Will Ospreay’s next assignment as AEW World Champion has been set.
Ospreay will look to take down former TNT Champion Kyle Fletcher at Full Gear on November 14. The match will go down as part of a pay-per-view event from the Mortgage Matchup Center in Phoenix, Arizona.
Fletcher called for a title match against Ospreay on Wednesday night’s episode of Dynamite, making his case as the uncrowned world champion in AEW. His argument was persuasive to those behind the scenes, as just moments later it was confirmed that he will face Ospreay at the next PPV.
The new matchup will be Fletcher’s second-ever attempt to become AEW World Champion. He previously tried to take the belt at last year’s All Out card, falling to Hangman Adam Page in a 38-minute bout.
Ospreay will be looking to defend his world title for the fourth time. He has beaten Kazuchika Okada, Jon Moxley, and most recently prevailed in the company’s first-ever Clockwork Carnage match at WrestleDream.
While not made official yet, Jon Moxley of the Death Riders challenged Jay White’s The Cut faction to an Anarchy in the Arena match for this year’s Full Gear card. The special AEW match, which we only see once or twice a year, was thrown out after a huge brawl between the groups erupted on Wednesday night.
We also saw another tease on Wednesday regarding an upcoming AEW World Trios Championships match, which will see Brodido and Hangman Adam Page face the New Level and Swerve Strickland. While the New Level as well as Page insist that the upcoming title showdown won’t be under Texas Death Match rules, Strickland once again expressed his enthusiasm for giving the match such a harsh ruleset.
To prove his point, Strickland kidnapped Bandido on Wednesday, attacked and unmasked the luchador, then left him in a pool of his own blood.
