Paige returned to NXT on Wednesday night as Kelani Jordan’s surprise opponent for her NXT Women’s Championship.
It marked Paige’s first televised match on NXT since a 2014 trios match, where she teamed with Bayley and Emma against Charlotte Flair, Summer Rae and Mercedes Mone. The broadcasters sold the fact that Paige never lost her NXT Women’s Championship and relinquished it when she became Divas Champion.
The crowd was behind Paige the whole way, with a “whose house? Paige’s house” chant. Paige was fairly dominant over Jordan, who kicked out of the Rampage. Jordan worked over Paige’s neck, which set up the finish, as Paige avoided the One of a Kind Moonsault to set up another Rampage. However, she was selling the damage Jordan had done to her neck, and Jordan reversed the Rampage into a small package to escape with a win.
