Next year’s NJPW Wrestle Kingdom card is beginning to take shape.
Seven matches have been confirmed for the January 4 show, scheduled as always to take place at the Tokyo Dome.
The biggest matchup confirmed today was a showdown between IWGP Heavyweight Champion Yota Tsuji and former titleholder Kenny Omega. The AEW name earned the title opportunity after winning in a three-way involving Tsuji and Boltin Oleg at Power Struggle earlier this week.
Gabe Kidd’s IWGP Global Heavyweight Championship will be defended against Yuya Uemura in January as well. Looking to defend the honor of NJPW, Uemura will try to take the title from the Death Riders member.
Three special singles matches have been set for the show: In a “Special Unbound Death Match,” Shingo Takagi will get his long-awaited singles opportunity against Jon Moxley. Looking to settle their issues within United Empire, Will Ospreay and Callum Newman will meet. And, stepping into an NJPW ring for the first time, MJF is scheduled to face Ryohei Oiwa.
In the junior heavyweight division, YOH will defend his IWGP title against SHO. If SHO loses, he must leave House of Torture and reunite with YOH in RPG3K. The vacant junior heavyweight tag titles will be up for grabs when Robbie X & Taiji Ishimori, Kosei Fujita & Robbie Eagles, as well as Mistico and a mystery partner battle.
