Shingo Takagi and Jon Moxley will have their 1-on-1 match on January 4 after the challenge was issued at New Japan’s Power Struggle.

Takagi & Jeff Cobb defeated Moxley & Wheeler Yuta on Tuesday’s show in Hiroshima when Cobb caught Yuta’s Busiaku knee attempt and turned it into Tour of the Islands. A brawl continued after the match involving Takagi and Moxley, with the AEW performer bailing to the floor to observe Takagi using his own variation of the Death Rider on Yuta.

Takagi addressed the AEW Continental Champion, stating that it wasn’t over yet and challenging Moxley to a match at Wrestle Kingdom 21 at the Tokyo Dome in the latest NJPW vs. AEW showdown.

Moxley and Takagi previously wrestled in the G1 Climax in 2019 and Battle in the Valley in January 2024, with Moxley ahead 2-0 in the series.

Earlier in the show, Ryohei Oiwa accepted a challenge from MJF for Wrestle Kingdom 21, as the show is expected to feature numerous AEW performers.
