Former teammates YOH and SHO will square off at Wrestle Kingdom 21 under two stipulations.
YOH teamed with Hyo and Shota Umino and defeated House of Torture’s SHO, Dick Togo & Yujiro Takahashi at Tuesday’s Power Struggle in Hiroshima.
After the win, a video aired featuring a mysterious figure challenging YOH for the IWGP Jr. Heavyweight championship on January 4, with the condition that if YOH lost, he would leave New Japan Pro Wrestling. The mystery man appeared inside the ring to attack but was thwarted by the champion and revealed SHO under the mask.
YOH addressed his former Roppongi 3K partner, stating they could have the championship match at the Tokyo Dome, but he laid out his own stipulation for the match. If SHO loses, he must leave House of Torture and reform their team.
As Sho Tanaka and Yohei Komatsu, the pair debuted as Young Lions in November 2012 and were frequent opponents before they formed Roppongi 3K. The pair won the IWGP Jr. Heavyweight tag titles five times and won the Super Jr. Tag League three years in a row from 2017-19.
The split occurred in 2021 when SHO turned on YOH and joined Bullet Club and later House of Torture.
