The most significant news items on the show featured Drew McIntyre issuing a challenge for the WWE Undisputed Championship at Clash at the Castle in three months. The event is scheduled for Saturday, September 3rd at Principality Stadium in Cardiff, Wales.

Madcap Moss made his return on Friday Night SmackDown and had an impromptu match against Happy Corbin on the show.

The match ended quickly with Moss attacking Corbin with a chair and causing the disqualification. Later in the show, Adam Pearce stated that the two would have a rematch at Hell in a Cell and the match will be “No Holds Barred”.

It brings the match total to seven for Sunday’s show in Chicago and is the only SmackDown match announced for the show.

Friday’s episode also saw Natalya become the #1 contender for the SmackDown Women’s Championship defeating Raquel Rodriguez, Shotzi, Shayna Baszler, Aliyah and Xia Li to earn a future shot at Ronda Rousey. It was not stated when the match would take place with Michael Cole noting it would happen “down the road” and leaving it as vague as possible.

Next Friday’s edition of the show will include an Intercontinental Championship match with Ricochet defending the title against Gunther. Lacey Evans, who is back on SmackDown, was also announced to appear next week in Baton Rouge, Lousiana.

Max Dupri is set to reveal his first client for Maximum Male Models next week, as well.
