A comment from DiBiase Sr. on the case.

This year, Brett DiBiase plead guilty to one charge related to the Mississippi welfare scandal which involves his brother and father. Brett, Ted Jr. and Ted Sr. have been accused of receiving $5 million in welfare funds and were named in a civil suit among other names.

One month after Brett plead guilty, Ted DiBiase Jr. was charged taking money from the fund for needy families in Mississippi.

News4JAX published highlights from a conversation they had with DiBiase Sr. and he said his family is caught up in it and feels like a scapegoat is being looked for. He feels if he didn’t have the name he has, he would not be getting looked at.

We’re doing good. And all of that is a bunch of garbage. I’m not at liberty to talk about it but you know it’s kind of like they’re looking for a scapegoat. We’re caught in the middle of it. If I didn’t have a celebrity name, they wouldn’t even be looking at me.

DiBiase Jr. was charged with one count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud, six counts of wire fraud, two counts of theft concerning programs receiving federal funds and four counts of money laundering.
