NXT kicked off with Johnny Gargano defending his North American Championship. Gargano used a wheel to determine who he would defend his title against and names such as Timothy Thatcher, Damian Priest, Adam Cole and several others were on it but the pointer landed on Leon Ruff’s name.
Leon came down to the ring to face Gargano and at ringside was Damian Priest who distracted Gargano. When Gargano returned to the ring, he attempted to make quick work of Ruff but ended up getting pinned and losing the NXT North American Championship.
