New Japan Cup USA winner to become Strong Openweight Champion

It was revealed on Friday that the winner of the New Japan Cup USA tournament will become the Strong Openweight Champion.

On Friday’s edition of NJPW Strong, it was revealed that the winner of the New Japan Cup USA tournament will become the Strong Openweight Champion.

After weeks of qualifying matches, the eight-man tournament begins next Friday with the winner becoming the inaugural champion, instead of receiving a future championship match.

The quarterfinals set for next week’s episode include:
*Brody King vs. Chris Dickinson
*Clark Connors vs. Lio Rush
*Ren Narita vs. Tom Lawlor
*Fred Rosser vs. Hikuleo

The two semifinal matches will air on Friday, April 16th and the finals are scheduled for April 23rd.
