NJPW announces field for 2021 World Tag League, TAKA Michinoku returns

The list of teams competing in this year's World Tag League tournament has been unveiled

The field of teams in World Tag League 2021.

This weekend, New Japan Pro-Wrestling will be kicking off their Best of the Super Juniors and World Tag League tournaments. Guerrillas of Destiny (Tama Tonga & Tanga Loa), winners of last year’s tournament are scheduled for this year’s World Tag League and below are the complete list of teams that are rounding out the tournament field:

  • Hiroshi Tanahashi & Toru Yano
  • Togi Makabe & Tomoaki Honma
  • Hiroyoshi Tenzan & Satoshi Kojima
  • Yuji Nagata & Tiger Mask
  • Hirooki Goto & YOSHI-HASHI
  • Tetsuya Naito & SANADA
  • Taichi & Zack Sabre Jr. (IWGP Tag Team Champions)
  • Minoru Suzuki & TAKA Michinoku
  • Great-O-Khan & Aaron Henare
  • Guerillas of Destiny (Tama Tonga & Tanga Loa)
  • EVIL & Yujiro Takahashi
  • Bad Luck Fale & Chase Owens

The winners of World Tag League will challenge Zack Sabre Jr. and Taichi for the IWGP Tag Team Championships at Wrestle Kingdom 16.

TAKA Michinoku has not wrestled for New Japan Pro-Wrestling since 2019. While he was gone, he ran his ‘JUST TAP OUT’ promotion in Japan and Minoru Suzuki was in action at the promotion’s debut show.
