Charlotte Flair states she is getting married this summer

While promoting WrestleMania 38 this weekend, SmackDown women’s champion Charlotte Flair shared details of her wedding this year.

While speaking with Ariel Helwani of BT Sport, Flair confirmed that she and her fiancé, AEW performer Andrade El Idolo, are getting married this summer in Mexico.

Flair didn’t indicate if she was planning to take any time off to coincide with the wedding.

In the interview, she mentioned that this current title reign is not among her favorites as she wished could be wrestling more. Flair cited Toni Storm departing the company as one example that affected this title reign as Flair said she wants to be a “fighting champion” and has not had a lot of opponents during this run.

After missing last year’s WrestleMania, Flair said she came back with more an edge and decided to be more “unapologetic” while also getting into better shape and adjusting her gear. She believes that making those changes after missing ‘Mania in 2021 may have helped her get to this spot where she is facing Ronda Rousey on Saturday’s card at AT&T Stadium.

Flair said “I have nothing but respect for what she’s done” when asked about her current relationship with Becky Lynch.

When Helwani brought up her father getting involved in the lead-up to their Survivor Series match last year with comments about Becky Lynch, Charlotte said, “well, I don’t control what he does” and added that “he’s not my voice, he’s not my mouthpiece” and would have preferred he did not get involved.

She also spoke about the difficulties of constantly being labeled as “Ric Flair’s daughter” and that the company has said that so many times on television over the past eight years, that is hard for the audience to separate the character from the person.
