8-Man Tag Opener

Rampage kicked off with the 8-Man Tag with Will Ospreay, Swerve Strickland, Jeff Cobb, and Kyle Fletcher taking on CHAOS (Chuck Taylor, Trent Beretta, Rocky Romero, and Yoh). Ospreay picked up the win after a fun match with an elbow strike.

Toni Storm Promo

A Toni Storm promo package aired with her disparaging the NJPW Strong Women’s World Championship and saying she was going to defeat Willow Nightingale this Sunday at Forbidden Door.

Tom Lawlor & Royce Isaacs Jump Adam Cole

Adam Cole came down to the ring and just before he could do his “Adam Cole, Bay Bay!” chant, MJF interrupted. Excalibur noted this was MJF’s first-ever appearance on Rampage. MJF said he talked to Tony Khan and got Cole a match at Forbidden Door against Filthy Tom Lawlor. Lawlor and Royce Isaacs jumped Cole and were destroying him whilst MJF feigned trying to come help his new tag team partner. MJF finally made it to the ring only to have Lawlor & Isaacs run off.

QTV Gets a New Member

The Acclaimed & Daddy Ass had another quick squash match defeating unannounced opponents Axel Rico, Darius Latrell & Koda Hernandez (according to Cagematch). After the match, Harley Cameron interrupted the celebration and was accompanied by two men in masks. Cameron was saying that she would write The Acclaimed a hit song that would go straight to #1. Then Cameron started rapping which was actually pretty impressive. She then hit on Anthony Bowens to which Bowens responded he was gay to a huge pop. The crowd then chanted “he’s gay”.

QT Marshall and Aaron Solo then interrupted and compared Max Caster to the “you can’t see me guy” which lured Max & Anthony out of the ring. With the team distracted, one of the masked men revealed himself to be “Johnny TV” aka “Johnny Elite” aka John Hennigan and superkicked Daddy Ass. The announcers said that Johnny had joined QTV. The other masked man never revealed himself.

Swerving Towards Tana

A Swerve Stickland promo package aired with Swerve saying he would take out Tanahashi tomorrow night and cut the line to get to MJF’s title.

Owen Hart Tournament Match

The opening match of the Owen Hart Foundation Women’s Tournament saw Chicago’s own Skye Blue taking on Anna Jay A.S. who was accompanied at ringside by Daddy Magic and Cool Hand Ang. Skye Blue picked up the win after escaping the Queenslayer and hitting the Code Blue. Skye goes on to face either Britt Baker or Ruby Soho.

CM Punk Video Package

Technically, CM Punk appeared on Rampage (via video package) and it was a shortened version of the two opposing promos that were posted online in the days since Dynamite. The full video is worth checking out over the condensed version.

Main Event: Jungle Boy vs. Douki

Douki was accompanied to the ring by Yoshinobu Kanemaru and Jungle Boy was not accompanied by Hook which the announcers explained that he was nowhere to be found all day. The story here was Jungle Boy’s “mounting out-of-character frustration” as Excalibur put it with Perry attempting to use the announce table to his advantage only to have Douki instead hit a senton on Perry through the table.

As the crowd started getting behind Douki, Jungle Boy hit a Poisonrana and an elbow strike from behind to a chorous of boos. Perry picked up the win with “Skull End” aka SANADA’s submission finisher.

SANADA interrupted Jungle Boy’s celebration and got right into his face, hoisting the IWGP Championship before walking off.
