There was an NXT Championship defense on the 10/10 edition of NXT on USA Network. The champion Ilja Dragunov defeated Dominik Mysterio to retain. L.A. Knight was the special guest referee and he stopped Judgment Day’s Finn Bálor and J.D. McDonagh from getting involved. Trick Williams prevented Rhea Ripley from trying to assist Mysterio to victory. Judgment Day played the numbers game on Williams which is how Dominik defeated him to regain the North American Title.
After Dragunov retained, Baron Corbin appeared and grabbed his attention, but the champion was taken out from behind by Dijak. Cody Rhodes, who was appointed as General Manager for the night, made it official that it will be Corbin versus Dijak versus the winner of Carmelo Hayes versus Bron Breakker to determine the next challenger to the NXT Title. Carmelo defeated Bron in the main event, so he’ll be in the Triple Threat to determine who gets a shot at Ilja Dragunov’s title at Halloween Havoc.
A ‘Bada Bing Bada Boom’ tag team Battle Royal is taking place on 10/17 and the winners will have secured themselves a shot at Tony D’Angelo and Channing ‘Stacks’ Lorenzo’s NXT Tag Titles at Halloween Havoc night one on 10/24. It will be a Battle Royal until the final two teams and then the match will convert into a standard tag match. The teams competing in the bout are: Josh Briggs & Brooks Jensen, Charlie Dempsey & Drew Gulak, O.T.M. (Bronco Nima & Lucien Price), Hank Walker & Tank Ledger, Damon Kemp & Myles Borne, Edris Enofe & Malik Blade, Angel Garza & Humberto Carrillo, The Creed Brothers (Julius & Brutus Creed), Gallus (Mark Coffey & Wolfgang) and Chase University (Andre Chase & Duke Hudson).

Before the main event between Bron Breakker and Carmelo Hayes, Breakker shared the ring with John Cena. Breakker threw a punch and then went for a spear that Cena would counter into an Attitude Adjustment. Breakker got out of the fireman’s carry before Cena could complete the move.
Prior to the show, Asuka took photos with the throwback version of the NXT Women’s Championship that she held during her 500-plus day reign. Asuka went on to defeat Roxanne Perez to remain undefeated in NXT.
At Halloween Havoc night one, Lyra Valkyria is challenging Becky Lynch for the NXT Women’s Championship. A video package aired to promote their match and footage from 2018 was shown of Lyra attending a workout/training session that Lynch was hosting at a wrestling school in Ireland. Lyra is scheduled to face Tegan Nox on 10/17.
The NXT Women’s Breakout tournament continues. Lola Vice bested Dani Palmer to advance.
There was a Pub Rules match and the trio of Butch, Ridge Holland and Tyler Bate picked up a win over Gallus (Mark Coffey, Joe Coffey & Wolfgang).
