Comments from Tony Khan ahead of the pay-per-view.

Scheduled for December 15th is Ring of Honor’s Final Battle pay-per-view. Going into the event, ROH owner Tony Khan hosted a media call and among the topics that were touched on was Athena versus Billie Starkz for the Women’s World Championship, Khan confirming he met with The CW in 2022 along with MJF.

Below are highlights from the call:

  • With injuries to both Adam Cole and MJF, Khan stated that changing the ROH World Tag Team Titles is something to consider.
  • Khan has had great talks with Warner Bros. Discovery and met with them on 12/12. He added that ROH is a third party to their relationship. There are a lot of interested parties for the ROH media rights, but the conversations have not been thorough. He confirmed that he met with The CW in Los Angeles in 2022.
  • He is looking forward to ROH being in the media rights marketplace in 2024.
  • Khan’s vision for Ring of Honor has not changed. With five hours of AEW TV, he does not think he’d be able to tell the stories he is now in ROH and provide those opportunities to the younger talents.
  • He was asked why Athena has not defended the ROH Women’s World Title on AEW television and Khan said he’s open to it. He then praised Athena and her work this year.
  • The idea of Samoa Joe dropping the ROH World TV Title instead of vacating it was something to consider. He wanted Joe to be a focal point on AEW TV and it would have been tasking to have him in the AEW World Title scene and defending the ROH TV Title.
  • Khan added that there might be more of a lucha presence at Final Battle.
  • ROH World Tag Team Champion MJF appearing on HonorClub is ‘something to consider’.
  • Tony stated that he’s open to the IWGP Global Heavyweight Championship being defended in either ROH or AEW.

Following Final Battle, John Siino and Kate from Montreal are going to be reviewing the pay-per-view.
