AEW’s final pay-per-view of 2023 was Worlds End and it was on the show that Andrade El Idolo fell in defeat to Miro in singles competition. At the post-show media scrum, AEW President Tony Khan confirmed that El Idolo’s contract was up.

Khan added that as it stands, he does not expect El Idolo to re-sign. He said he has a ton of respect for Andrade.

Taking to his X account, El Idolo thanked AEW for his time with the company. He listed those who he wanted to say goodbye to and added that there’s plenty more he could name. He mentioned that he would’ve loved to face Jon Moxley, Ricky Starks, Powerhouse Hobbs, Dante Martin and others. El Idolo closed by saying he’ll always wish the company the best.

On the night of Worlds End, it was first reported by WrestlePurists that Andrade was expected to finish up with AEW. The site added that a WWE source expects El Idolo to be back in WWE ‘imminently’. Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp corroborated the report.
