NJPW President Hiroshi Tanahashi wins World TV Title at Wrestle Kingdom 18

The second NJPW World TV Champion is crowned.

A new NJPW World Television Champion was crowned at Wrestle Kingdom 18. The newly-positioned NJPW President Hiroshi Tanahashi took on Zack Sabre Jr.

Sabre Jr. had been in possession of the title since Wrestle Kingdom 17 where he became the inaugural champion. His title reign came to an end when he was defeated by Tanahashi. The two traded pin exchanges and it was Tanahashi who was able to cross Sabre Jr.’s legs and hold him down for a three count.

After his victory, Tanahashi further addressed the public about his role as President.

When he spoke to the media following the initial announcement, he said he plans to continue being on the road and when the company is in Tokyo, he’ll be in the office.
