BLK Jeez recovering from shooting after attempted carjacking

The National Wrestling Alliance issued a press release stating performer BLK Jeez (Darnell Kittrell) is recovering from a shooting.

The performer, who was set to return to the ring on Saturday night, was allegedly approached by four masked men in an attempted carjacking and, in the process, shot Kittrell in the hip.

The NWA’s press release stated that Kittrell attempted to defend himself during the carjacking:

Kittrell, who possesses a permit to carry a gun, used his legally registered firearm to defend himself and returned fire. The suspects fled the scene, and investigators are currently reviewing surveillance footage for leads. Kittrell was taken to a local hospital and is recovering.

Kittrell has not wrestled since last February after being diagnosed with multiple myeloma, which is a form of cancer that begins in the bone marrow.

Kittrell was quoted in the release:

I was looking forward to making my return this weekend. I would love to make the trip regardless of the soreness and pain that I’m in. However, my gut tells me to stay home with my family this weekend. I look forward to making my return at the next NWA event. Thank you to everyone for your continued support.

We wish Kittrell a full and speedy recovery.
