Jon Moxley to defend IWGP World Heavyweight Title against Shota Umino at NJPW Resurgence

Moxley versus Shota for the gold. 

Closing out NJPW’s Wrestling Dontaku tour was their event on May 4th and it was Jon Moxley defending his IWGP World Heavyweight Championship against Ren Narita. 

Throughout the match, there was interference from HOUSE OF TORTURE to assist Narita, but that was offset but El Desperado and Shota Umino who were supporting Moxley. 

In the end, Moxley was able to retain and with that win, he’ll be heading to NJPW Resurgence on May 11th in Ontario, California. At the event, Moxley is going to defend the IWGP World Heavyweight Title against Shota Umino. 

With that match being made official, here’s the updated Resurgence lineup: 

  • IWGP World Heavyweight Championship: Jon Moxley (c) vs. Shota Umino
  • NJPW STRONG Openweight Championship — No Rope Last Man Standing Match: Eddie Kingston (c) vs. Gabe Kidd
  • NJPW STRONG Women’s Championship: Stephanie Vaquer (c) vs. Alex Windsor
  • Tetsuya Naito & Yota Tsuji vs. David Finlay & KENTA
  • Tom Lawlor & Fred Rosser vs. West Coast Wrecking Crew (Royce Isaacs & Jorel Nelson)
  • Kickoff Show: Matt Vandagriff vs. Adrian Quest
