Gunther defeated Pat McAfee at WWE Backlash, despite McAfee being helped by Michael Cole.

Cole yelled support for his broadcast colleague throughout the match, and then made his way to ringside.

An angry Gunther pulled Cole into the ring and put him in a headlock, but he was rescued by McAfee.

Back outside the ring, Cole then grabbed Gunther’s foot as McAfee attempted a pin, but to no avail.

The win came when Gunther locked in a sleeper hold. McAfee almost powered out but eventually succumbed.

The match was quite competitive, and Gunther signalled respect to the broadcast pairing after the bell.
