A few big matchups have been confirmed for AEW’s debut card in Mexico City.
Next Wednesday’s Grand Slam Mexico lineup, held in collaboration with CMLL, now features a total of four matches, including a title bout on the women’s side of things. Here’s an updated look at what the two-and-a-half-hour TV special has in store for fans next week.
Mercedes Moné will try to add to her growing belt collection when she challenges CMLL Women’s World Champion Zeuxis on Wednesday night.
While Moné is just a few weeks away from an AEW Women’s World Championship match against Toni Storm, she sees the promotion’s trip to Mexico next week as an opportunity to pick up more hardware even before All In takes place.
She threw out the idea of a CMLL title match on social media while sitting ringside during this week’s episode of AEW Collision.
5Beltz…Moné doesn’t want to wait til #AEWAllInTexas to win another title…so next week at Grand Slam: Mexico I want to challenge for the CMLL World Women’s Championship. 🇲🇽 #aewdynamite

Later in the program, current champ Zeuxis appeared backstage in Portland, Oregon, to accept Moné’s challenge.

Zeuxis has held the CMLL World Women’s Championship since September, when she dethroned AEW’s Willow Nightingale at the promotion’s 91st anniversary card. She looks to give Moné an incredibly rare loss when they face off in Arena Mexico next week.
It was also confirmed on Wednesday that MJF will take on veteran talent Mistico as part of next week’s card.
Mistico was challenged by MJF this week after scoring a win over Blake Christian on AEW Dynamite. MJF had previously teased confronting Mistico about a match, but wanted to see how he would do in his return to the AEW ring before formally laying out a challenge.
MJF leaned into an overly-patriotic American character while challenging Mistico, displaying a massive U.S. flag and then shooting red, white and blue confetti into the air.

Along with the two singles bouts, a pair of massive tag bouts were confirmed.
It was revealed that a 10-man tag match will take place next week featuring many of the most pivotal figures in AEW’s top storyline. Swerve Strickland, Will Ospreay and The Opps (Katsuyori Shibata, Powerhouse Hobbs & Samoa Joe) will team up to take on The Young Bucks and the Death Riders (Claudio Castagnoli, Jon Moxley, and Wheeler Yuta).
Just before the show went off air, it was also announced that The Don Callis Family and FTR will meet up against a collection of AEW and CMLL talents in a massive 12-man tag bout.
Here’s the lineup thus far:
- MJF vs. Mistico
- Zeuxis vs. Mercedes Moné (CMLL World Women’s Championship)
- Matt Jackson, Nick Jackson, Jon Moxley, Wheeler Yuta & Claudio Castagnoli vs. Will Ospreay, Swerve Strickland, Katsuyori Shibata, Samoa Joe & Powerhouse Hobbs
