Hiroshi Tanahashi will challenge Gabe Kidd for the IWGP Global Heavyweight Championship.
Kidd called out Tanahashi after his title win against Yota Tsuji at Dominion on Sunday. Kidd spoke about his mental health struggles during the pandemic, and Tanahashi checked on him daily.
The match has been set for July 4 on the New Japan Soul event at Tokyo Budokan.
The show will include the final two Play-In matches for the G1 Climax with Ryohei Oiwa vs. Don Fale and YOSHI-HASHI vs. Chase Owens.
