CM Punk publicly apologized for his 2020 tweet about Saudi Arabia.

During Friday’s kickoff show, Punk walked onto the stage and referred to a fan in the crowd who wanted an apology. Punk referred to it as a “mean tweet from six years ago” and that it “had nothing to do with Saudi Arabia,” citing that he “woke up and was in a crabby mood” and apologized to The Miz.

Punk proceeded to apologize to the fans and “all of Saudi Arabia” over the tweet from 2020.

In January 2020, The Miz tweeted cryptically “Oh, sorry, I didn’t change the culture” as a veiled shot at Punk, who responded told Miz, “Go suck a blood money covered dick in Saudi Arabia you fucking dork.”

A clip has also surfaced of Punk speaking with Barstool Sports about WWE’s events in Saudi Arabia from several years ago.

Huh, I guess CM Punk didn’t JUST tweet at The Miz about his issues with the Saudi blood money propaganda shows…

Punk is wrestling in the country for the first time when he faces John Cena at Night of Champions on Saturday. The tweet has been vaguely referenced on screen with the story that Cena is giving Punk a title shot on the basis that he’s a hypocrite because of where the match is taking place.
