Syuri is taking a temporary leave from Stardom.

The former World of Stardom and IWGP Women’s Champion made her announcement during her backstage comments after Sunday’s event in Okayama.

This is the translation of her comments from X:

I have something important to tell everyone here, so please allow me to share it. On June 21st, I lost the IWGP title, and I went through a lot of struggles and doubts. I have a strong desire to keep pushing myself to new heights, and I’ve been thinking about leveling up overseas. At the same time, after years of wrestling, I have various injuries that need treatment. After discussing with the company, I’ve decided to take a temporary break from Stardom. I absolutely won’t let things end like this, and I’m determined to wrap the IWGP title around my waist again. That’s why I made this decision. But I will make a grand comeback and return to this Stardom ring, so for just a little while, I’ll be taking a break.

Syuri (Syuri Kondo), 36, made her pro wrestling debut in 2008 and transitioned into MMA, where she competed in Pancrase and the UFC. She debuted for the UFC in 2018 and went 0-3 in the promotion with losses to Poliana Botelho, Yan Xiaonan, and Ashley Yoder.

Since returning to pro wrestling, she has wrestled for Stardom and won the World of Stardom title at Dream Queendom in December 2021.

Most recently, she held the IWGP Women’s Championship, winning the title in April from Mayu Iwatani and losing to Sareee earlier this month.
