The booking is the first time that The Butcher and The Blade will team together inside a GCW ring.
Butcher, also known as Andy Williams, hasn’t been on a GCW show in over five years. His last appearance on a show dates back to the first-ever Josh Barnett’s Bloodsport card back in 2019, when he went one-on-one with Chris Dickinson.
The Blade made two more recent GCW appearances, working a pair of their shows in February.
It’s been quite some time since The Butcher and The Blade have appeared on AEW TV. The last time they were seen on a weekly show together dates back to Janaury 2024, over two years ago, an absence partially fueled by a back injury which put The Blade on the shelf for an extended period of time.
Butcher confirmed in a recent interview that they’re still under contract with AEW, but haven’t received the call to appear on a show. “We can work indies and stuff like that, and just [are] waiting for the call for the return,” he said last month. “Hopefully it happens soon.”
