CM Punk has been off WWE TV since the Raw after WrestleMania 42, but he could soon be making a return.
Punk’s last match was losing the world heavyweight championship to Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 42. He had a segment with Cody Rhodes on Raw, but has been absent without explanation.
WrestleVotes Radio on Fightful Select reported Thursday, citing a source, that signs pointed to Punk returning on or by Monday, July 6, in Chicago. The date wasn’t confirmed, but WrestleVotes added that the expectation is that Punk’s on-screen return isn’t “far away.”
The return date would be after Night of Champions in Saudi Arabia and before Saturday Night’s Main Event at Madison Square Garden on July 18.
That report came after several unfounded rumors circulated about Punk. Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp reported that an AEW source told him “never say never” when he asked if Punk had burned any bridges in the company.
WWE is currently running a King of the Ring tournament to potentially decide the No. 1 contender for Reigns’ title. This year’s SummerSlam at U.S. Bank Stadium is scheduled on Aug. 1 and 2.
