John Cena retired from in-ring competition last year, but the idea of him coming out of retirement persists.

Cena’s final match was at Saturday Night’s Main Event on Dec. 13, and he’s made occasional appearances since then as the host of WrestleMania 42 and to announce the John Cena Classic at Backlash.

WWE fans have chanted “one more match” to Cena, and Us Weekly recently asked Cena how realistic it would be for him to have one more match.

I hate speaking in absolutes … “Never” is a strong word. It would be financial suicide for someone to court me in a position where I would have another match, and I truly mean that. So if you’re in the business of torching currency, that’s the only way to get me back in the ring.

Cena continued to promote the John Cena Classic, and for now, the 49-year-old remains committed to his in-ring retirement.
